(My) 7990 is dead after years of hard labor. It first started it's pitiful youth working in the litecoin mines, forced to work in inhumane conditions, up to 95°C until the monstrosity's hands gave it surgery, putting a strange, paste-like, compound into it's guts. The experience was awful but successful, now reaching lower 80s°C, it kept hammering until the monstrosity displaced it to a doge mine. The work was Much Hard and young 7990, now into it's second year old was Very Sad.
What seemed like decades to it was only a few months but 7990 was now older and somehow Monstrosity had grown a small conscience. The monstrosity had now decided that rather then making 7990 and his family work in the mines, it would make them work in laboratories, performing research to help other monsters. The work was hard and difficult to pull, there were a lot of different terms to learn like: double precision, magnitude, CPID and more but the quality of life was much better now working in a tempered 70°C environment.
7990 kept working well beyond what would be expected to be retirement age.(only cause sli/crossfire support sucks!) In fact, in it's fourth year, It had a severe accident. Nobody knows exactly what happened but 7990 was working in the lab when a burning smell encompassed the labs only for it to yell in pain: "OW! MY VRM!!" A rescue team dispatched by the Monstrosity came in trying to help. Oddly enough, a vrm injury is considered lethal and yet somehow 7990 survived against all odds.
Now blinded (no video output) and half paralyzed (one core dead) it insisted on going back to work. For a good six month, it kept working, as if it had automated the tasks to the point of not needing eyes anymore. Until on a wednesday morning, February 28th 2018, 7990 was found dead at it's workstation. We dont know the cause of death but an autopsy will be performed at a later date.

RIP 7990 :( you will be sorely missed. I dont have the specifics because most of the crunching done on it was through the pool but It was hammering about 450k RAC in it's old days on enigma (unstable on milkyway by then)
hah found this old thing on the tube
PS: Excuse the poor english

Nice post :D :D
I like this essay style. VRMs seem to be the bane of current gen hardware.
I was sleep deprived and I decided to have as much fun as possible given the circumstances
