What is Steem Park?
“Steem Park” is an interactive community garden in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. Located within the historic Herbert von King Park: Steem Park is a pop-up installation that will be used to host Steemit meetups, local community events, workshops and dozens of activities throughout the year.

Good For Community, Good for Steemit
This new neighborhood hotspot in the heart of Brooklyn will act as a colorful and dynamic billboard for the Steemit community. We @hitheryon believe that this physical design project is an important and exciting proof of concept for Steem and Steemit. We want to build something physical, lasting and impactful with cryptocurrency. Tens of thousands of people will visit Steem Park this summer. Our team will host Steemit workshops and events for the purpose of onboarding community members and activists to the Steemit platform (this includes park visitors, park representatives, volunteers, local residents and more!)
Upvotes and donations will translate directly to funding for furniture, events, park maintenance, beautification and restoration for a neighborhood in need. This project is about discovering new ways of using Steem for social good!

This is a really exiting project! I wish you the best of luck achieving it :) It is also really exciting to see a Kickstarter-type of project here in Steemit. I think this platform has a huge potential for projects like these, and it will be exciting to see how this turns out ;)
Anyway, I really like the idea of a physical space like this. Not only will it be a great ad campaign for Steemit, it will also be very nice for families and others who wish to use the park. I think it is great that local people can benefit from the project as well as Steemit :)

Shoooot!! I used to live a few blocks from this park @hitheryon so this is blowing my mind.
You are KILLING IT! The biggest pain point in cryptocurrency, for me at least, is the lack of real world community stuff. So seeing this, a way of putting the Steem ecosystem into the real world, is rad to see.

Yes! We'll be documenting every step of the process. More videos to come within a couple weeks. Once we raise enough to begin fabrication of benches and planters I think we'll have some really great footage to share :)
What a great project! Is there a plan somewhere for the plants to be used? I would love to see the list!
Of course! We're working with the Hebert von King Park conservancy and a landscape architect to draw up a list of plants + plus a schedule of when and where they will be planted. We should have the final list available next week. (We'd love to get your feedback on it!)

I really love the concept of a community garden that can be a venue for workshops and other events, being financed by Steem. I'm not sure how much space you actually will have but if space is a limitation, have you considered vertical plant walls? Could be in the shape of the letters: 🌿S🌿T🌿E🌿E🌿M🌿I🌿T🌿 perhaps?
Also will you consider edible plants, grown organically of course, as part of the garden? Could generate an income to maintain the garden or provide food to those who most need it.
Love the idea of the Brooklyn Steem Park being just the first of many iconic community gardens all over the world. 🙏🌳🌿🍄🌿🌳🙏
