GETTING TO KNOW ME - WHO’S MICHIKO?
Hello, pips! Welcome to my blog, I'm excited to start this, so let's go!
I am Shaine Montesclaros, but you can call me "Sheyn," but just call me "Michiko" in secret :)
If you're wondering why "Michiko," according to Google, it is derived from two kanji characters "mi" means beautiful or beauty, and "chiko" means wisdom or child. The combination of these two components gives the name Michiko a nuanced meaning that can be interpreted as "beautiful wisdom child." And you'll find out soon why I really love that meaning of "Beautiful Wisdom Child."
I live here in Binangonan, Rizal. There’s still a lot I don’t know about this place, but I was born here. I just really don’t know much about Binangonan, all I know is that there are a lot of overlooking spots and cafes here (like Kapehingahan, Escalera Cafe, Coffee Rush Eastridge, Sikatan Sikada Cafe, etc.)
I’m a 2nd-year college student, taking a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology (for my pre-law). I study at National University - MOA. My school is quite far, right? Hahaha.
A lot has happened, and a lot has changed. We’ll talk about that in the upcoming kabanata.
WHAT’S MY HOBBIES AND INTERESTS?
Actually, I’m not sure if I even have spare time because I don’t really feel like I do, hahaha. If I do get some, it’s just a rare occurrence because I’m a busy person. So the things I do during my spare time are reading books.
Well, I love reading books, in case you didn’t know, and the genres I read are mostly Self-care, Novels (depending on the story, I also enjoy classic novels like To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, published in 1960), Fantasy/Adventure like Harry Potter (I’m such a big fan of that series, especially the one and only J.K. Rowling). I used to like Romance genres, but I stopped reading them because I got traumatized by love stories with sad endings, hahaha (please don’t bash me). I also enjoy Psychological genres and finance books, like Rich Dad Poor Dad by Mr. Robert Kiyosaki, if you’re familiar with him.
Of course, I also love watching Netflix series, films, and anime. I have a lot of favorites, and when people ask me what my favorite series or anime is, my answers are never consistent. But still, I’ll list some of my favorites, so if you haven’t watched them yet, you can check them out.
For series, of course, Harry Potter, (I really do love that one). For films, Hacksaw Ridge, War Room, The Shack, The Forge, and many more (actually, they’re all Christian films). For anime, of course, One Piece, Tokyo Ghoul, FairyTale, and many others. I also love Ghibli films (super, super, super) that’s where I only watch romance films, for real. There’s still a lot more, and we can talk about them next time if you want.
I have a passion for Video Editing and Graphics Designing (actually, I’m a freelancer with international clients).
It’s really fun when I get to edit high-quality videos, like podcasts, engaging reels for Instagram/TikTok/Facebook, and real estate videos. I also have a passion for leadership.
I’m one of the youth leaders in our church (I’m a Christian, by the way). I’m one of the people who encourages others, especially the youth, to be distinctive.
I believe that if you just follow the crowd and walk the same path they’re walking, there’s a possibility you won’t be successful in life. But if you follow the few and distinctive people, your development and improvement will accelerate, and you’ll have a higher chance of being successful in life (but always remember to keep the Lord at the center of everything you do)
Of course, my passion for writing can’t be left out. Ever since I was a kid, even in elementary school, I’ve loved writing anything, even if I didn’t fully understand it. I just love expressing my feelings. When there’s no paper, I write my ideas and perspectives on my phone, especially about situations I’m in. I’ve written a lot of “dear” letters, hahaha.
Sometimes, I even leave encouragement words or Bible verses on pieces of paper in the buses I ride. Since I love reading books, I also dreamed of becoming a writer. But someone once told me that writers are not valued here in the Philippines, so I got discouraged. After that, when I reached high school, I discovered Twitter (it wasn’t X-Twitter yet). That’s where I started ranting and sharing about the books I read, or if I liked someone or a certain situation, whether I was happy, sad, or feeling any emotion. I just couldn’t help but express it through writing.
I also have a passion for hiking and visiting different cafes. But since I’m busy and my budget is still a bit low, I’m starting with the basic mountains/cafes for now, hahaha. But I believe that one day, I’ll reach my dream mountain/cafe destinations (woohoo!)
WHY AM I STARTING MY BLOG?
I want to express my feelings more, and I also want to encourage others through my life. I believe that my life is a blessing, and you should also believe that your life is a blessing. You’re not doing this just for nothing, but to also encourage those around you (I want to be intentional in everything I do, and I hope you do too). I want to help others, even if I don’t know them personally, at least emotionally, right? I’m willing to listen and give advice if you have a teachable and submissive heart.
Maybe the topics I’ll post here on my blog are about life, wisdom, books, feelings, thoughts, family, friends, or whatever comes to my mind. But I’ll make sure that what I post makes sense so your time reading won’t be wasted.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND ABOUT ME
At National University - MOA, I’m a member (I almost became president if I didn’t leave, hahaha) of a club called the "Love for Reading Club." There are only a few members, but I’m still happy because most of the members are Senior High School students (they’re so cute, for real) and I feel so old when I’m with them, haha. I’m also one of the core leaders of the non-profit organization I joined, which is the "Seeds of Hope Society Ph, Inc."
Yes, I’m a volunteer. I’m assigned here for Social Media Managing, but because this busy person can’t focus on it, thankfully we have reliable people in our team (unlike me, haha)PeakD. Thank you so much po! really appreciate your effort.. I love my Ka-Seeds! So much. Especially my ate and kuya there, special mention to @mooontivated who guided me and @wittyzel for referring me here on
In our organization, we conduct tree planting activities every month (around Rizal), as well as outreach programs, birthday pledges, donations and many more.
FUN FACTS ABOUT ME?
- I love using reverse psychology, especially when I know you're lying to me.
- I love attending conferences, mentorings, and gatherings to develop myself in leadership. Even though these can be expensive, 3. I’m willing to save up for them because, for me, it's an investment in myself.
- I love black, so almost all of my tops are black.
- I also really want to learn how to speak Bisaya because I like 6. Bisaya people, especially when they speak in a conyo way, LOL.
- I love any kind of pastry (tinapay girl haha)
- I also have the habit of staying quiet in a corner after taking pictures because I do a thorough review of these photos before posting them (wala na ko pake sainyo hahaha)
- I’m a Tj Monterde’s enjoyer
- I'm a hairy person, haha!
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MY BLOG?
You should be expectant of everything. Well, maybe you should expect that I’ll ask about your personal experiences (if you want to share), so I can give you some encouragement to help or at least enlighten you. You should also expect that I’m not perfect. I just want someone to talk to and share my story and testimony. We can chat about any topic that makes sense, which you can also share with your fellow writers. And many more things, but I don’t want to list them all (nakakangalay pala to, haha).
