I used to play in a Jazz ensemble back in the late 1980's and early 1990's up at Syracuse University but got my first guitar in May 1974. Joe Riposo was the main instructor on jazz improv. I suspect these guitars will go up in value over the years even if they completely go out of business.
My Aria acoustic Christmas 1984...
My Gibson Les Paul summer 1989...
My Gibson L4 fall 1990 when it was brand new.
Playing my Gibson L4 at Slab City Range late night for small crowd in March 2009. The color gradually changed over the years becoming more yellow.
I haven't done much with music in the last couple of decades (stopped playing in bars for the most part after 1994 but did a couple of gigs in the 2000's). Music was always sort of a hobby for me though many tried to encourage me to go pro. I've had other interests going on.
My chops were the best back in the 1990's when I did a lot of Pat Metheny's material and mostly focused on ensemble play with comps and solos. Now I don't do lead improv so much because I haven't stuck with a band.

Yeh bro. You are right.
Sad. End of a wonderful era where there were (and still are) so many talented musicians playing those Gibsons.
You have a wonderful hobby. It gives you joy in life and a charge of energy. I wish you a good mood!
