Hey guys! GundamGuy here with another article to tickle your fancy or in this case your hobby! I strongly suggest to any of my friends to have a hobby. Preferably something that does not constitute to work and a general thing to do to blow some STEAM., or STEEM off! Pun intended. You know, something that you do for fun and doesn't feel like work. You could say that steemit is your hobby but unless you are here to earn in hopes of replacing your everyday 9-5 job then it's all work no play. Here are my top 3 reasons why Steemit can keep your hobbies alive!
Reason Number 1! Obviously you need funds to fuel your hobby!
For my hobby which is obviously Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Models) 1 box/kit as we call it, can cost from anywhere between Php 300 ($6) to as much as Php 15,000 ($300) depending on the kit bought...It can even go higher than that. What makes a gundam kit expensive varies on a number of things. 1 could be the Grade of the Gundam Kit. We have what we call a grade which determines amount of detail the kit has, which also leads to more plastic being used for it to keep color accuracy nice and well. The categories for kit grades are:
SD - Super Deformed, these kits are like chibi version of Gundams (Price range usually Php 300 to 1000, $6-20)
HG - High Grade, Usually 1/144 in size and has good amount of detail and articulation (Price range usually Php 600 to 2000, $30 - 40)
MG - Master Grade, Usually 1/100 in size (bigger) and has waaaaaaay more detail and articulation (Price range usually Php 1000 to 5000, $20 - 100)
PG - Perfect Grade, Usually 1/60 in size (Biggger but still not the biggest) and of course more detail and articulation compared to the others (Price range usually Php 15,000, $300)
There are also other grades like the Mega Size, NG or No grade and the recent FM or Full Mechanic which also varies in prices.
2 could be if it was a regular Bandai release or a P-Bandai, basically P-Bandai are premium kits and can cost a LOT! Last reason could be because of how rare that kit is. Some NG kits which are normally priced at Php 300-500 can cost as much as Php 1000 based on how rare it is already.
My point is having Gunpla as a Hobby is NOT cheap and requires a considerable amount of investment. The kits are one thing, don't get me talking about the tools to build Gunpla! From Nippers, Sand Paper, Paint and Nail Buffers it the real deal!
But where does steemit come into play? I remember writing about a NG Gundam Before. It was one that I really loved and decided to write about it. I made sure the article was good and poured almost 3 hours into it. The result was it got a lot of upvotes and earned $130! I basically spent $20 on it since it was kinda a rare kit, but the pay off was great! It was there that I said maybe my gunpla has a shot of earning here in Steemit and help me keep my hobby! After all....adulting is real!
Reason Number 2! Steemit is naturally a place to have a community!
I think a hobbyist can really use friends or a lot of them. The reason, being able to learn and hear different points of views on a particular hobby and maybe even get inspired by some. Never underestimate the power of a community and crowd sourcing. It can become your best asset. Hobbies like Gunpla are a lot of time related to people who are also into plamo (Plastic Models), Tamiya 4WD, Toy collectors, Otakus and so on. Plus having people who can relate is one of the best things in the world!
Also since Steemit is fairly young, I think Hobby niches would be good for it and steemit would gain more popularity from people who are still stuck in facebook and not realizing their creative ideas can be put elsewhere. Also it can put steemit in so many more pages in google if people really post in it and especially about certain niche topics. Not only is steemit good for hobby people but hobby people provide niche topics which is then good for steemit!
Reason Number 3! Road to actually doing what you love for the sake of "work"
Let's face it, if you are so into basketball, wouldn't you want to be in the NBA? Getting to do what you love ad enjoy AND be paid for it! It's kinda related to Reason number 1 BUT with the addition of actually affecting your entire life! What if because you invested in building a following here in steemit, you now have the ability to earn more than what you are getting from your 9-5 job and actually indulge in your hobby and get to pay the bills too! Not only that, you get to help yourself, your family and your friends! I know the whole situation about being a minnow is kinda tough but hear me out. All you really need to do is build your following, keep your posts consistent and make it better and better for you!
Going back to my $130 blog post about my Altron Gundam. You can buy a kit and live! I think overall that's what a LOT of people are looking for. Being able to do what you really love and enjoy and be paid for it! I'm not against 9-5 jobs. I have one and it's keeping me a float but I want something more fulfilling and I think I have a shot at it with steem!
Like my gunpla here, I gotta break FREE!
Hope you all enjoyed this and may you keep doing what you love. May we all steem about what we want to steem about and make a few bucks, if by chance you get a lot good for you! Have a good one guys!
