Very much appreciated your interview with Scott Crow and his perspectives on guns. Think I'll get his book and share ideas with people I know. Has been such a hot topic, I have to admit I've been a bit silent in my very left-leaning, anti-gun community while my thoughts have been more about the gun culture, video games, generation of lost boys, etc as Scott mentions.

I felt the same way for a long time. Until I started reading about the Black Panthers and Zapatistas a few years ago, I was staunchly anti-gun. But the nuance and proof of history just doesn't jibe with that flat and simple stance.
Will make a separate post for the full interview but here's a link to the YT video:
Yes, I'm a history teacher and know how the Panthers used guns in their movement and how doing so was necessary for their cause. Pretty powerful to watch (on old footage) Panther members cocking their rifles when police were arresting/pulling over a Black man (a way to prevent abuse of power).
Also, I have been following a group of African-American professors who are against banning guns for these very reasons. Could become martial law and then what would happen? Becomes much easier with an unarmed nation. Look at how the militarized police went into places like Ferguson, a town with a population of about 20,000 with tanks rolling down the streets!
I had collected youtube video's to show my students after that event and shortly after all videos were gone from the Internet and my youtube wiped of all videos, subscriptions and history. Some of these videos were made by young teens living in Ferguson at the time who said they were all hiding in their houses and didn't know who the rioters were--said they were actors. Might sound a bit like conspiracy theory, but I'd be considered pretty normal by many, and the fact that my youtube account was altered underlines the truth for me.
Keep revealing the truth, Eleanor!
