Coffee - Our Obsession

"Brad winced as he sipped his coffee-it was tepid, overly bitter, and lacking real cream. It was a source of caffeine though and so he drank like a sailor new to whiskey."

When did it begin for me? It was 1994 and I was working for a local non-profit organization. My new found friend and colleague, Jeff Warren, came to me and handed me a clear, glass coffee cup. He said to me, "If you are going to work here....you are going to need this." Around the corner from my office was the magic coffee pot. A Bunn brand coffee maker that could crank out a pot of coffee in under 3 minutes.

From that point forward, it became a habit I've kept up for years now. Sure it has evolved to different methods, styles, and tastes, but to this day, I continue to drink delicious, hot, black, coffee. Seems I just love it.

Welcome to Steem. If you are going to work here....you are going to need this.

For me, it happened in Nairobi, Kenya. My sister and I were travelling with my dad and we spent a day and night at his friend's house with his kids. Coffee, like Whiskey, was one of those things only adults drank. My dad and his friend went somewhere and I found myself suddenly left with people that allowed me coffee (with lots of milk and sugar). I vowed to start drinking it the moment I was grown up. I was only 9 at the time :)

Coffee was originally from somewhere in Africa I believe, then gifted to the king of Holland whose botanist took it to South America as he knew it would thrive if I remember correctly 😀😀

Yes the legend is that it was discovered by an Ethiopian goat herder who noticed how energized his goats became after eating the "Berries".

Yeah that’s it, lucky goats! 😂

My Dad has always been an avid drinker of coffee, but for some reason I was never that interested as a kid. Funny story was I saw Jeff Warren (the guy who introduced me to coffee) again recently as I randomly bumped into him and we caught up on life....over coffee. I told him that story and we laughed together about it. Good memories.

I remember my first cup of coffee. I was 10 years old, and my mother said to me to not to drink because I will be woke up all the night long. And what I did? I drunk 3 cups and stayed woke for more than 48 ours. Now, I need coffee to wake up hahahaha!

Many people it seems started drinking coffee early in life! Kind of surprises me because I never cared for it at a young age.

I started after saw my mother and father drink.
Now, I need to drink coffee sometimes, since the excess os blood in my caffeine veins could get me sleepy.

Well can't really remember the exact way how it happened but as far as I can remember it did happened when I was on a vacation in one of relatives house and yeah it was indeed a nice start from there but as yeah with different habits and trying different drinks but yet the taste of it never gets old : )

Cheers Cap
