The first STEMGeek's Hackathon is over. I received a total of 14 entries I need to review. I estimate it will take one to two weeks before I have the final results and can award three winners.
Prize Pool
The total prize pool is 12,623.370 Hive. This means 1st place will receive 6,311.685 Hive (~ $1,931 USD), second place will receive 3,787.011 Hive (~$1,158.83 USD), and third place will receive 2,520.674 Hive (~$711.326 USD).

Have a look at the entries, and comment about your favorites. From what I have heard, a few of the projects have already continued development to improve their projects. These improvements will not be considered for the Hackathon but will make them more viable projects.
Thank you to everyone who participated. I am excited to review the entries and see what we have. If you submitted an entry, I may contact you with questions prior to a final decision.
Judging
I am the only judge for this competition. I will first review the entries to make sure the rules have been followed. I will then judge assign each entry a score based on originality, creativity, and usefulness. This will give me a rough idea of the standings. I will then focus on the top five entries and review them in more detail. From there I will come up with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entry and announce the winners.
Prize delivery & Announcement
Once I have determined the three winners, I will distribute the full balance of @prizepool between the winners.

Now I've got more of an idea what a Hackathon involves (since you dropped in on Crim's show the other day) I can safely say this is one of the best things that's been going on HIVE (albeit very much in the background!) over the last couple of weeks!
Seems to have attracted a few outside users as you've said.
I've had a look at some of the entries, and there are some good ones for sure.
Maybe put a small DAO proposal together to fund more regular competitions, it wouldn't take much of a daily payout to fund a decent monthly prize pool.

I like that idea, but ensuring that its used the way promised is going to take trust.
True,
But isn't the whole DAO based on trust?
Appreciate the irony there.
I realize you're the only person who is technically a "judge" however these are the top 3 projects from the hackathon in my opinion:

Overall great initiative and I'm glad to see a handful of developers went ahead and made something. Thought about entering the hackathon personally but realized that the time-frame to develop wasn't something I should strive for.
Either way, interesting hackathon. I'd suggest running one of these every month or every other month in order to stimulate the developer ecosystem.
Good luck to very one. Hopefully we can do more of these in the future and get more great stuff built for hive.
Yes if we can do it every 6 months or so, it would be great.
Congrats to all participants and shout out to @themarkymark for hosting. 👊
Some great entries, I really liked Authentica [@authentika], this is an excellent use case for bloakchain, great to see this happen on Hive, Kudo's. Also really dig HayStack by @miniature-tiger, this would be a valuable service for many here on Hive, talk about a target market. I could see Leo Finance being interested in this project.. Beyond that really tough to pick a third, toss up between the Hive's Gatsby Plugin, Hivemessage, hiveonboard.com, and Honeybee.
Very cool event, look forward to seeing more of these!
Great to see that many entries. My favs are Authentika, Lasting Type, and Heystack. Goodluck to them!
cool projects and hackathon seem to be a great encouragement to the deserved guys. Great work.
This is awesome. Gave 100% upvotes to each project.
Hope to get more involved next time around.
Excellent initiative and, in my view, a terrific success, especially for the first time.
Congrats to all the participants, you showed what amazing talent there is here.
I look forward to seeing who the top 3 projects are.
LastingType is friggin’ sweet.
Great action. Rehived.
😍😍😍
Love that there were so many entries! I need to check them all out, see what’s looking promising.
