We have often read and heard about many stories about hackers and their often unfamiliar challenges. In a previous post we talked about hackers who broke into a luxury hotel in Austria and secured hundreds of guests from their rooms until the money was paid to them.
Almost the same scenario happened in the United States these days by Hacker, when he hacked computer systems in an American prison and tried to manipulate prison records to help one of his friends to get out of prison before the date set for him.
Hackers used "phishing attacks" to target prison staff. The hacker convinced them that he was the IT director of the prison and persuaded them to visit a fake Web site with malicious software.
The hacker had full access to the prison system and also had access to the prisoners' records and changed the records to release a prisoner (apparently his friend) before his actual release date.
The prison staff noticed the change and alerted the FBI, the hacker was arrested and the fuets were not released and the prisoner who wanted to help him was kept until he was sentenced and may face up to 10 years' imprisonment.
