Heh, not exactly new news. Crypto mining on hacked computers has been going on for absolutely years (2010 at least), however it makes excellent PR material for AV/security vendors to push out a "we discovered another cryptominer malware" every time cryptos are in the news :)
well, thats really wrong. Is there any way to stop it ? apart from just installing buggy antivirus softwares

Wouldn't be surprised if half of our IoT devices were also being used (smart devices)- although you would need an astronomical amount to turn a profit (but it takes no effort to hack into them as they are almost always set to default passwords)
