RE: My @haejin Update & Request For Solution!

in #haejin7 years ago (edited)

People will obuse the rules whenever they can if its money involved. I dont know detail of this haejin story, but in general Steemit needs much better regulation and it can be done only by the better algorithm. Its not haejin who is the issue, but those who can improve things but they wont. Bots are even bigger problem. They earning fortune every single day. Why would they bother with haejin when they are earning much much more and nobody cares.

So do you have a ,better suggestion @crossroad about how we strategically tackle these issues or do we just all sit back and allow the abusers to ruthlessly exploit the platform and destroy the community?
I have no idea how to create an algorithm, but if we could from amongst our community, would that help?

Yes, I have. I am here shortly and probably my diagnostic could be wrong, but from mine point of view the problems are in this order:

  1. Too many power in the hands few people (witnesses or whatever they called themselves)
  2. That leads to inequality and abusing the system
  3. Inequality leads to slave mentality where low-rank members are trying to please high-rank member in desperate hoping for their voice, which is very important for their survival here.
  4. All this leads to botting - abusing the system and milking money.
  5. Rich are getting richer, the poor are getting....praying for upvotes.
  6. That leads to low-quality discussion and no confrontation because the risk of getting downvoted is too high.

What do we need to do is certainly not promoting status quo. It should be attacked in the head of the problem, guys who are holding too much power for themselves.

Haejin, whatever he is doing is not the source of the problem, he is just the result. And he is not alone. Bots and witnesses are banking hard, leaving the majority of people pennies.

This is everything but decentralized system.

The algorithm should be changed to guarantee that quality posts of low ranked members can have much greater visibility without relying on the good will of high-rank members.

Witnesses (nodes in the steem blockchain) produce the steem, with the big computers they must maintain working, updated and interconected 24/7/365, making also another works to prove their value in the platform such as programs, steem alternative platforms or curation trails, making possible this platform in which we are writing.

I know, but the price is too high. Many of them are bot owners and the majority of bots are making thousands of SBDs every day, making Haejin earnings laughable.

Bad news all round then! Thank you @crossroad

Hello my friend,
I have no difficulty agreeing with all that you say, but you have not really outlined any alternative steps we might take to alter the current problem. Your suggestions are generalised when I was looking for specific steps. If the algorithm needs to change, how is that facilitated? You may have no answers, I certainly don't at this stage. Thanks for trying and caring :)

I am not in the position to solve this issue. I'm just saying that the source of the problem is not Haejin, he is just the result, the source is much higher. Those who need to solve Haejin problem will not do anything until they are questioned. Mark Zuckerberg doesn't wont to solve anything of users problems, as long it's not the threat to the Facebook itself, as long he gets his money. Same issue here. The pressure on main players must be applied, but I know, people will never do that because they always idealize authority figures. The algorithm can be changed in multiple ways, but those who can do it hold the power, they will never do it unless they are forced. Big money is at the stake.
