In honor of International Haiku Poetry Day, I challenge Hive to spread haiku across our platform!

The original Japanese form is difficult to adapt perfectly into other languages. In English, haiku is a three-line poem generally written in seventeen syllables, with the first line containing five syllables, the second seven, and the third five again. A haiku poet selects the best words to express the intended feeling.

How can you participate?

  • Write a haiku post
  • Use haiku in other art
  • Comment in haiku

(see what I did there?)

Use the tag #haikuday, and don't forget to support other participants with your upvotes. Share a link in the comments here, too, if you like.

On the Haiku Day
I posted Haiku elsewhere
Now I'm three days late.

Forgiveness granted
Distractions abound online
Things slip through the cracks

You know what I miss? @haikubot.

Can you preach in haiku?

Damned by Adam's sin,
Redeemed by Christ's sacrifice.
Will you take this gift?

May I suggest using blockchain technology more to your advantage? On Steemit, Freezepeach was created to upvote posts and comments that had been unfairly flagged. Perhaps an initiative like that coupled with less-clickbaity, less-tractlike comments could build goodwill while promoting the community? You would suddenly be less of a shrill voice, and more of a community leader whose input is welcomed.

People aren't going to watch your videos or read your posts if it isn't for their benefit. You need to show them why paying attention to you is beneficial to them. Spam does not work to that end.

Spam is one of the wrong things to do. Stop, please.
