Growing old; a part of life. Everything around us will grow old someday - no exemption. Many are terrified of the thoughts of growing old and dying. I, myself am not to keen to being wrinkly and getting weaker. Unfortunately, this is a part of our lives we cannot escape. The haiku below is a metaphor to growing old, so I suggest not to take it at face value.
Despite only being three sentences, it has a lot of hidden meaning within, so I suggest reading it a few times. Anyways, I hope you will enjoy reading it.
Leaves being stepped on, broken
Gust of wind carrying the debris, scattered
Old tree no longer green
A Haiku is a Japanese poem which can also be known as a Hokku. A Haiku poem is similar to a Tanka but has fewer lines. A Haiku is a type of poetry that can be written on many themes, from love to nature.

American poets such as Jack Kerouac have acknowledged that the American pronunciation is completely different from Japanese pronunciation. They wrote haiku by denying 17 parties and three sentences.
Kobayashi Ishara Haiku: Firefighter flies / drops so fast / silent
Matsu Basu's haiku: butterfly ointment / aroma of your wing / orchid
Haosu of Josia Busan: A clash of ax / pineapple smell / winter banana.
Nowadays, haiku can be written without following the 17 syllables and 3 sentences of the traditional haiku, it's called freestyle haiku. Personally though, I prefer the traditional haiku. Thanks for visiting.
