The poetic contest of Bananafish, now with a jackpot of 3 to 5 SBI
For those that want to unleash their poetic potential, here is how this contest works:
• Look at the prompt image and let yourself be inspired by it.
• Write a haiku related to the prompt image. The haiku should be composed by 1-3 short verses with no title. The classical haiku form is 3 verses of 5/7/5 syllables, but other forms are allowed, as long as they remain in absolute brevity.
• If you aren’t confident with English enough, you can write your haiku in Spanish, French, or Italian as well. Only remember, if you write in languages different from English, please include an English translation for other readers.
• Post the haiku on your blog or in the comment section below this post. If you make your own post, don’t forget to put the link to it in the comment section below!
Prompt Image:
• Kireji (切れ字), a cut between the 1st and the 2nd verses, or between the 2nd and the 3rd; the cut can be grammatical, as a sign of punctuation, or it can be a cut in the meaning, like two different images.
• Kigo (季語), an explicit or implicit reference to a season, that defines the time of the year in which the haiku is composed or referred to.
• Sabi (寂), the sense of the inexorable passage of time, the beauty or serenity that accompanies the advance of age, when the life of the objects and its impermanence are highlighted by patina and wear or by any visible repairs.
• Wabi (侘寂), the taste for frugal and natural things, rustic simplicity, freshness or silence; it can be applied to both natural and artificial objects, or even non-ostentatious elegance.
• Mono no aware (物の哀れ), empathy with nature and human life; the "feeling of things", nostalgia, regret for the passing of time, understanding of the changeability and of the transience without suffering.
• Yūgen (幽玄), sense of wonder and mystery; it represents the state of mind produced by the inexplicable fascination of things, the feeling of an 'other' universe, full of mysterious unity.
• Karumi (軽み), beauty in simplicity; poetic beauty reflected in its simplicity, free from preconceptions and moral judgment.
• Shiori (しおり), gentleness; the levity and the delicate charm that radiates from the verses, where things are evoked in the reader without aggressiveness or excessive explicitness.
Submission deadline: Wednesday 6th March, 11:59 PM, GMT -7 (Pacific Daylight Time).
The results will be out on Thursday 7th March, 1:00 PM, GMT -7 (Pacific Daylight Time).

Interesante semana. He encontrado hermosas expresiones coma la de @lecumberre y la de mi amiga @mllg...El haiku de @vida-blanca me envolvió por lo generoso de su agradecimiento; el de mi amiga @oscarina reflea muy bien el fondo al escribir "árboles desnudos". El de mi compañero @josegilberto encierra esas dos mágicas luces y las humaniza el expresar "Ignorantes del alba". El de @maylet contrapone al día con la noche y también se enfocó en las dos fuentes de luz centradas. Mi amiga @atreyuserver, en su primera entrada logró un maravilloso haiku, igualmente centró su mirada en las dos candilejas. Todos han sifo inspirados por la imagen de esta semana.
Pero me enamoró, me cautivo el de mi amigo @lecumberre y para él es mi voto.

Una excelente semana, el Mizu No Oto ha crecido tanto en cantidad como calidad.
Nuevamente un cumulo de interpretaciones distintas a partir de la misma imagen, para algunos el alba, para otros ocaso, mientras los mas observadores han notado las tímidas luces al centro y las han hecho protagonistas, y algunos se han enfocado en la desnudes de los arboles. Todos con una prosa hermosa que nos llena de sentimientos y reflexiones.
Las exposiciones que mas me gustaron: @oscarina, @felizgarciap, @evagavilan, @oacevedo, @mllg, @josegilberto, @antoniarhuiz, @adncabrera y @manoldonchev. Todas me han gustado mucho y no exagero al decir que podría escoger cualquiera de estas como favorita.
Mi voto es para @manoldonchev creo que logra describir la imagen de forma hermosa con un haiku muy bien elaborado.
An excellent week, Mizu No Oto has grown in both quantity and quality.
Again an accumulation of different interpretations from the same image, for some the dawn, for others the dusk, while the most observers have noticed the timid lights in the center and have made them protagonists, and some have focused on the nudity of the trees. All with a beautiful prose that fills us with feelings and reflections.
The exhibitions I liked the most: @oscarina, @felizgarciap, @evagavilan, @oacevedo, @mllg, @josegilberto, @antoniarhuiz, @adncabrera and @manoldonchev. I liked all of them very much and I'm not exaggerating when I say that I could choose any of these as my favorite.
My vote is for @manoldonchev I think he manages to describe the image beautifully with a very well-crafted haiku.
De nuevo, excelentes ejercicios de haiku para esta semana. Observo un cuidado trabajo con el lenguaje y la interpretación sugerente del fenómeno natural, con lo que él supone de tránsito temporal, en los textos de @felixgarciap, @evagavilan, @sayuri, @chajaim, @@@oscarina y @manidonchev. ¡Difícil decisión! Mi voto es para el ejercicio de @charjaim. Poema denso en su sencillez, de lenguaje preciso y abierto a la vez, que expresa el sentido del paso de tiempo como fenómeno vital recurrente y la actitud de receptividad del experimentador (espectador / hablante) frente a él.
Again, excellent haiku exercises for this week. I observe a careful work with the language and the suggestive interpretation of the natural phenomenon, with what it supposes of temporary transit, in the texts of @felixgarciap, @evagavilan, @sayuri, @chajaim, @@@oscarina and @manidonchev. Difficult decision! My vote is for the exercise of @charjaim. Dense poem in its simplicity, of precise and open language at the same time, which expresses the sense of the passage of time as a recurrent vital phenomenon and the receptive attitude of the experimenter (spectator/ speaker) in front of him.

Mi voto por el haiku de @charjaim porque creo que la alusión a la estación otoñal está en forma delicada tratada en lo del "ciclo de la vida" y el silencio y la contemplación señaladas en los dos últimos versos hacen este haiku etéreo. Demasiado hermoso. My vote for the haiku of @charjaim because I believe that the allusion to the autumnal season is in a delicate form treated in the "cycle of life" and the silence and contemplation indicated in the last verses make this ethereal haiku. Too beautiful.
Árboles al desnudo
Tarde de ébano
Trató con alto lenguaje poético el tema de la caída de las hojas árboles al desnudo, la noche que se acerca tarde de ébano y (Aunque fue el inicio lo dejé para el final) hizo una equivalencia entre el otoño como estación y el otoño como senectud con una sola palabra: PostrimeríaWaoo, son bellísimos los haikus que he podido leer (Aunque debido a que no tengo PC y me conecto es desde mi trabajo no los puedo leer todos) muy dificil seleccionar uno solo para votarle (qué bueno que no soy juez) pero quiero dar mi voto al haiku de @yujomar:
Sure I am past the deadline, but I saw the picture just before bed, and then with hearing speculation on being less than 5/7/5 thought of this when I should be sleeping. Here is my under the count sudden thought, although probably not hitting enough of the other criteria, I do want to have a think and play with this under the count but on the rest idea.

Todos los haikus son muy buenos, apoyar a uno o a unos en especifico se me hace muy difícil, felicidades a todos por compartir lo que una imagen le inspira, eso habla mucho más de lo que imaginan. Reconozco la situación en la que se encuentra la gente de @bananafish y los felicito también por eso y por el concurso en sí.
Muchas gracias! La calor que recibimos de vosotros nos da la fuerza por seguir leyendo y seleccionando haiku. Esta semana son 30! Los estoy revisando en este momento y pensando en la elecciòn que tengo que hacer.
