I am very sure that as Nigeria I have never been part of any Halloween celebration.although it's not that people don't celebrate it but it not a kind of celebration that people are into due to the verse diversity in the culture of nigeria.

Even in some European countries it's not really welcome.in Nigeria there is a kind of annual celebration that takes place every year which I believe is similar to the Halloween in some ways which is called the masquerade festival.

The Halloween or masquerade celebration is the kind of festival that is celebrated in the country every year.in this festival which usually starts in the evening or in the night because of certain sacrifice that are been rendered to gods of the land which the tradition believes it will help protect the land and the people from any evil.it commences by having people gathererd in a particular place and someone which is the masquerade is been dreesed in a different way or costume to indicate that he is the masquerade.
This celebration is usually of fun and at the time scary, why it is scary is that the masquerade are been given some kind of look which makes them a treat and long sticks are given to them to beat people and they perform some certain type of dance that makes it more of fun.another thing is there outlook which is a very big treat to me because the first time I got to see them I was really terrified by their outlook and the design of their costumes.most of the time the masquerade are dress in some kind of animal clothing and covers with facemask so as not to recognize who is in the masquerade form, some others things like the shell of snail , tortoise and a lot more are added to the mask that makes it more of treat to anyone who is not acquainted with the culture.like I said earlier people gather in a particular place to start the celebration and as it unfolds the masquerade with his actions makes it more interesting ,songs are being sang as a sign of happiness and joy that the celebration is taking place and at the same time people move around within a specific area which permitted by the king of the community.this usually last for seven days and on the last day the celebration will be over and the masquerade vercate the street to their respective places.
