Hamilton in Boston: The Angelica Tour

ham playbill.jpgI was blessed with the opportunity to see this amazing show on the 7th of October. You may think the fad of this show that brought home 11 Tony's was over after the original cast moved on to other projects, but you would be wrong. The first time this show’s Hamilton came on stage, the audience erupted in cheers, and continued to do so after each and every song. I’ve seen many shows before that captured our attention, but not one so strong that it captured our heart.

The poor girl next to me couldn’t help but cry both from joy and sadness at the train wreck of a life our nation’s first treasury secretary led. This experience was simply stunning. The choreography had such a fluidity about it that it was hard to wrap my mind around how easily the ensemble was able to keep in time to a constantly changing tempo. Every member of the production gave it added flair, they took on the background characters of Hamilton’s life and had they not been part of the story the effect would not have been as profound as it was.

This musical appeals to everyone, from theatre lovers to haters alike. Those who don’t enjoy the catchy beats and empowering lyrics are merely jealous of how much of an instant success this show was. Anyone who is given the ability to see this show in any form is beyond lucky, and I hope that one day everyone could be able to experience it. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a true genius and this show is just part of the beginning of his legacy.
