I open my eyes from my deep sleep.
The surrounding is different.. I am in a room with 4 beds, and I am on the top bunk.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot... I am in Vientiane.
After the whole day of misadventures and stressful events, I am just so glad to get a good sleep. I think forgetting where I am now signifies that.
I went down my bed, and look at the window.
In front is the Mekong River, the body of water that separates Thailand to Laos. I can oversee Thailand from where I am.
I look around the room and there is no sign of any human being. The place and the way the bags are organized are the same as when I arrived.
It’s almost sunset, and the view from my window starts to look fascinating
So I plan to go near the river so I can get a glimpse of the sun reflecting in the water.
I went out, and cross the road. “Wow”, I said admiring the beauty of the sky.
I sat there, just looking all over the place. Seeing boatmen as they paddled. Kids that are running in circles. Family roaming around. And tourists like me, who take pictures of just about anything.
It’s just so relaxing...
I closed my eyes, and just felt the air hitting my face.
There’s calmness.
Right there and then, I know my balance came back.
Thinking about what happened the last few hours makes me smile. It’s like a rollercoaster ride, and now I am in a carousel.
I stayed there for a while until the sun is no longer visible.
Just around the area, there is a night market. They sell mostly clothes, and shoes.
It’s a long alley that it’s like never-ending.
You get to see a lot of tourists buying the same style of clothes, the ‘elephant pants’.
Basically, these are the clothing that will make you as a great target to be sold on higher prices items. It’s like shouting to everyone “I’M A TOURIST!”
Local people don’t wear them, and visitors adored them.
I did too, I have my own when I first step foot in Thailand. And hey! They are comfortable ;)
On the street corner are street foods.
I wouldn’t spend much money on things, but when it comes to food? I can splurge!
So having this good feeling, I just ate anything I want. The currency is into thousands, and I hate converting so I didn’t care much about the prices.
And I found something I’ve been looking for a long time.
BALOT!
It is an exotic food we have in the Philippines. I’ve written about it in my previous article.
I’ve been away for too long that I can’t remember when was the last time I had it.
People might find it gross, but I like the taste of it. Not the duck almost forming, but the kind that they call ‘sa puti.
Oh well, I had skewers, crepe, and burger too.
And on my way to my hotel, I’ve decided to drop into a coffee shop and chill out.
Happy days!
What I realized is that…
If I let my mishaps ruined my trip, it would be like that for the rest of the day.
If you haven't read them yet, you can read what happened to mein just 24 hours.

Are you still there or on your way back to Thailand?
