RE: The Hypocrisy of "Hate Speech"

I agree, when it comes to the government making the rules. They should stay out of it. But if, say, Facebook, which is privately owned, wants to set "editorial standards" for the content on their website, shouldn't they be allowed to do so, even if they might do it hypocritically? Who are we to say whether a private organization can or can't "police" their own website? I own a blog, I sure as heck don't want anyone telling me I can't decide to not post comments that I think are... well, whatever I think they are. That decision should be mine and mine alone.

That said, I don't like the fact that the Israeli government can influence FB to drop some accounts, as I reported in Facebook Says it is Deleting Accounts at the Direction of the US and Israeli Governments, but I really don't have much to say about it other than to vote with my feet and go some place else and inform the public as best I can about who really controls the media. It might not be the government, but it's the same people who control our government while us pions just go along for the ride.

A lot of Steemians fear the government, or any form of government, even ones that arise organically from within any society (including Steemit) while capitalists using their resources unjustly or exploitatively get a free pass. There's another form of hypocrisy we should be aware of and try to not play into, IMHO.

exactly ! but apparently exposing this is "anti-semitism", and not only you'll end up censored on social media....but even risk being arrested in some countries in the EU!

Yeah, I'm afraid so. Funny the Arabs aren't dumping more money into countering AIPAC and Israeli gov. influence around the world but I'm guessing they are just another part of the oligarcy that runs this planet. They may fan the flames of Arab hatred toward Israel but they probably see them as bedfellows rather than a threat.
