The small island of Redang is located in the north of the Malaysia region of the East Coast, about an hour's boat ride from Kuala Terengganu.
The island features beautiful stretches of white sand beaches, lagoons, and reefs.
The underwater life is also quite interesting to study with some spectacular reef formations and crystal clear water.
Redang Island in Malaysia is a popular tourist destination that is both beautiful and serene.
This island has over 20km of pristine sandy beaches, perfect for swimming, surfing, snorkeling, and diving.
The island also boasts 10 stunning mangrove forests which are teeming with marine life including colorful corals, clownfish, sea anemones and so much more!
The waters are also great for fishermen looking to get their hands on some grouper or wahoo type of fish.
Redang Island is a popular vacation spot, and the easiest way to get to it will be by plane or by car to Terengganu.
The major cities in Malaysia that have airports are Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kota Kinabalu.
Because we are living in Singapore, we have the chance to either drive or take the plane.
I have experience taking by plane and driving up to Terengganu from Johor Bahru.
By Plane
By plane from Senai Airport in Johor Bahru is cheaper compare to coming from Singapore.
When you are flying from Singapore, you will end up going to Kuala Lumpur first then from KL to Terengganu.
If you go to Johor Bahru and then to Senai Airport by Taxi or bus from Singapore would be much faster. It saves you time and money.
By plane to Terengganu is about 1 hour and 30 minutes only.
Once you are on the Island of Terengganu, after that you need to rent a boat to get to Redang.
There are commercial boats and private boats such as speed boats.
Commercial boats are complicated especially when you arrived late in the afternoon. But private boats are always available depending on how much you are willing to pay as it depends on the boat.
I have tried speed boat, it was speedy. 6 of us into a speed boat and we paid about RM900.00 Malaysian money. Please do take note that the price may vary from time to time.
Driving to Terengganu
I have tried driving with a bunch of friends from Singapore. We drove in supercars and it took us 8 hours to Terengganu town.
We started at about 4 in the morning and we arrived at about 4 in the afternoon at Redang Island as we have to park our cars in Terengganu town and the parking was not easy for us. But yes there are safe places to park your car in Terengganu.
Things to Do
There are endless things to do on Redang Island. My favorite things to do are just to enjoy the white sand and clear blue water. It is like a paradise for me.
If you are coming from a busy life and need to rest, this is the kind of place you wanna be really.
You can stay in a more luxury like hotel and budget ones. The luxury kind of stay is mostly by the beach.
The budget type is behind the beach which is also not bad. After all, this is just a small island.
Snorkeling, Scuba diving, and walking to the other side of the island are other things to do.
So much to say about this island but I would like you to ask me questions if you have one by leaving a comment.
