Amazing one week in Ohau island in Hawaii~!!

in #hawaii7 years ago

Last month, i went on vacation to Hawaii with my family for a week.
And from now on, let me tell you about my trip.
First day, as soon as get to Ohau Island, We headed for the Iolani Palace before enjoy our vacation.
Because we thought we need to look into the history of Hawaii.

Some of you may know it better than me, but i'll explain it for people who don't know.
The buliding in the picture is Iolani Palace which is the first palace in USA.
This palace is bulit in 1882 by king 'Kalakaua'.
'Iolani' means 'sacred bird' and it is a sacred name in Hawaii. When i saw the appearance of the palace, it was truly divine like its name.
And i heard that 'Liliuokalani', the last queen, lived until she was dethroned in 1893, after few years later, the United States incorporates Hawaii.
Next, the statue in the picture is 'King Kamehameha's Statue'.
King Kamehameha is the first king in Hawaiian kingdom.
To give you a brief description of this statue: The statue is wearing a gold cape, and carrying a spear in its left hand, a symbol of peace, and its right hand is lifted up. I felt the dignity of a great king in this statue.
Plus+, King Kamehameha's information, In 1781, he became the leading chief of Hawaii and conquered all island except Kaumei and Nihau unitl1795, when he unified Hawaii and ascended the throne in 1810.
According to his achievements, he improved the political organization to recognize foreign trade and other progressive policies.
After sightseeing the palace, we headed for the tree that had been seen for a while.

That tree was Banyan Tree! It was the first time in my life that i saw this tree.
It was soooo beautiful and amazing. Especially, LOOK AT THE shape of stems! how amazing!
Actually, it was root, not stem! I was so surprising when i heard that fact.
Did you know that? Banyan tree's roots are coming back from the branches!!
And my mom told me this tree is the tree which used in movie 'Avatar'. I didn't know this too.

Anyway, after tour of the down town, i fell asleep all day long because of jet lagggg.

.
.
And second day~! after breakfast, we started head for Diamond Head.
I wanted to go hiking with my family but i had to find some beach where i'll surfing the day after tomorrow...
So I went all over the island and saw the beach. It was so tired, but i could see many beautiful beaches.

And i took some pictures of Diamond Head at a nearby beach.
That was so big that i could see anywhere!

I wondered why the mountain was named Diamond Head. So i searched about that, it's because the rocks on the top of the crater shine like diamonds in the sunlight. it was interesting~
And i'll explain more about Diamond Head: The height of mountain is about 232m, and the body of the volcano was blown away by a large volcanic eruption in 150000years ago.
It was once used as a cemetery by the native Hawaiian people.
And now, as a symbol of Honolulu, there is a U.S. military base so civilian's access is forbidden.
But, it is not a complete forbidden. We can get into the crater only from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m on weekdays.
This was what i did in my second day..
.
.
.
Third day, we went to polynesian culture centre.

When i came into, I found out that there were delicious foods like Crepe, steak, and there was a Ukrelle store.

But we couldn't enter as soon as we arrived in entrance of culture centre because it was open after 11:45.
So we waited about for an hour...

And finally we came in~ and show around of culture center.
Few minutes later, the Polynesian traditional festival of Samoa, Aotearoa,Tahiti, Fiji, and Tonga(6 tribe villages) began.
And also I could experience many interesting things like fake tatoo, make fish out of banana leaves, make bread with coconut and so on.
And at 2:30, a canoe boat show was held. I think this show was the highlight.
It was a dance show where each of the tribes danced on a canoe, It was very interesting because there was a unique dance of each tribe.

After the show, we moved on because there was a place to go.
It was the dole and pineapple farm~!
We ate pineapple icecream. It was quite diffrent with what I've eaten. More fresh, sour... i liked it.

The third day was drawing to a close....
.
.
.
I'll skip Day4~6.. because i did serfing all 3days long and have no any pics.... sorry..
But i have picture of my sixth day lunch in Cheese Cake Factory.
One day before I saw a long line and worried about it, but I didn't have to wait when I went.

It was good!
.
.
.
And sadly, Last day had come...
I felt so sad,so I woke up early in the morning and walked on Waikiki Beach.

The end... It was very good experience to me .
