Is Your Body Poisoned?

in #healt8 years ago

Did you know that last year, a British medical journal estimated 75 percent of most cancers are caused by environmental and lifestyle factors, rather than an actual preexisting medical condition?

Now maybe cancer isn't the first thing on your mind right now, but it is a scary indication of what is out there right now doing harm to your body. Arm yourself with the knowledge to minimize the dangerous effects of your environment, and prepare for your health.

Toxins in the air, water and food we take in everyday is doing more harm than you know. Carbon monoxide in the air poisons each breath you take, while the additives in food and chemicals treating our water drastically limit our bodies ability to heal and maintain itself. The condition of your own body is the perfect indicator of toxins in your immediate surroundings: have you ever suffered from intense migraines, diarrhea, achy joints or incurable lulls in motivation or energy? All of these low level examples are indicators of your body being bogged down from years of toxic buildup. If you also happen to be even the slightest bit overweight, the chance for toxic build up is even greater, since toxins reside in your fat cells. Every day we are exposed to life threatening toxic compounds that not only threaten our health, but our ability to heal, reproduce and to simply lead long and fulfilling lives. Here are just a few examples:

Toxin                                               Primary Health Risk                                              Source                                              Pesticides                                             Cancer                                                                  Fruits, Vegetables, Meats                        Mold & Fungi                                 Cancer, Heart Disease, Asthma                            Contaminated Buildings                   Dioxins (from combustion)         Cancer, Reproductive Disorders                           Animal Fat (ie: Meat)

There are many other examples of toxins such as chloroform, chlorine, and heavy metals all have an impact on our health, energy levels and overall quality of living. There is hope however, steps you can take not only to prevent this damage, but also to reverse the damage already done to yourself and your loved ones. There are a few simple steps we can take to minimize the effects our toxic environment has on us. First is food: buying local meat and produce, not only helps your community but also reduces toxic emissions (food travels less to get to our home). There is also less chance of harmful chemicals used on your food, if you buy from a local farmers market. The second factor is carbon emissions: industry and travel both greatly increase smog, pollution and harm to our lungs and bodies, increasing the chance of cancer, our reproductive organs, asthma and more. Living in a smaller town or community reduces your exposure and supports tighter knit communities. If you prefer the life of the big city, then you can do your part by thinking green in other ways such as biking or car pooling. The final factor is believe it or not: body fat. The hiding places of all toxins is so close to home, many aren't even aware of it: your fat cells. With each fat cell, exists the possibility of toxins. An increase in metabolism however is the bodies natural form of detoxification. By working out, or putting on a good sweat is the easiest way of flushing fat cells and thus toxins from the body. So to answer the question first asked of you in the opening title of this article, “Is Your Body Poisoned?”, it is my sincere hope that you can begin to change the answer from yes, to: “No, my body is not poisoned!”. It's your life, so live a long, healthy, and toxin free one!
