Living in the USA is sort of sucky for your (walking) health, because this country is so car culture oriented. It's easy to think "just get out and walk," but most roads have no pavements, and not even worn footpath in the grass at the side.
Thankfully, we live close to the beach, so I can walk there... but it's seasonal.
But healthwise? I do get in 5,000+ steps most days, and often the equivalent of 20,000 in the summer when I am mowing the lawn with a push mower 3x week, and working the vegetable garden daily.
There's definitely health benefits... making a point of walking more since about 2017, combined with almost exclusively drinking water rather than juices/beer/pop means I've slowly dropped about 15kg and just feel a lot better; less sluggish.
This is @denmarkguy btw, I just realized I'm on my alt account.
