I would say the bodies inability to maintain effective anti-oxidant capabilities over time (aging), is what kills us, not, well, oxygen
Hence why they say aging is a degenerative disorder, it is not really true, but, it is about the fact that immortality is actually completely possible
Your genetic structure just has to possess certain features
Humans do not have recurring telomeres or whatever they are called
So we lose our ability to produce antioxidants and other such things over time.
