About Lengkuas
Lengkuas, (Alpinia galanga) is a type of tuber plants that can live in the highlands and lowlands. Generally people use it as a mixture of cooking spices and traditional medicine. The utilization of lengkuas for cooking by rhizoming is then dipped into the mixture of cooking, whereas for traditional medicine which is widely used is red lengkuas (alpinia purpurata) K Schum.

Lengkuas is a vertical terna height of 2 m or more. The young trunk comes out as a bud from the base of the old stem. The entire stem is covered with a leaf midrib. Its stem is a quasi-shaped type. Single leaf, short stem, elongated lance-shaped leaves, pointed ends, blunt stems, and flat edges. The size of the leaves is: 25-50 cm × 7-15 cm. The leaves are 15-30 cm long, grooved, and green. The flower crowns are still buds at the white end of the color, and the bottom is green. The fruit includes bunions, round, hard, and green when young, and brown, when it is old. Therefore, there are three cultivars that are distinguished by the color and size of the rhizome. The rhizome is creeping, fleshy, shiny, distinctively flavored, rough-grained, and spicy if old. To get a young rhizome that has not much fiber, the harvest is done when the plant is 2.5-4 months.
