I've been doing a research on plaque formation lately because the doctor says my Dad has it. So here it goes.
When I searched for Plaque Formation, this one came out. Its medical term is Atherosclerosis. It is a disease in which plaque builds up inside the arteries. Arteries are blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood to the heart and other parts of the body. Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood. Over time, plaque hardens and narrows the arteries. This limits the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the organs and other parts of the body. This disease can lead to serious problems, including heart attack, stroke, or even death.
We are anxious of his condition since he already had heart attack last October 2015 and mild stroke just this November 2017.
This was taken just before his Cardiac Catheterization in New York Methodist Hospital. This was his first heart attack and we're hoping he won't get another one. So we're trying to find ways to prevent another one coming.
Since the exact cause of atherosclerosis isn't known yet, we just have to watch his diet and lifestyle. So he can no longer have foods that are high in saturated or trans fats. He must have more vegetables, fruits and whole grains in his diet. And be physically active. He can do walking for 30 minutes a day since he's turning 65 this year. Walking has been shown to provide health benefits and a low risk of injury.
