Please note some context here. Context as in price, free market, and maintenance. Eye care maintenance is cheap. An eye exam is typically $120 in the US. Add another $100 for glasses, and maybe another few hundred more for a year's worth of contact lenses. Me personally I pay less than that. I never need an appointment and I walk in and out within an hour. That's cheap and easy. I'd hate to have to go through an insurance company to get "free" or "cheaper" coverage. Prices would skyrocket under insurance. As it is now, we have eye doctors and providers in almost every shopping center and Walmart in the country. Why? Competition. There is no competition in the insurance or govt based healthcare systems. Dental is similar but we've seen the crony insurance creep into these markets in the US, and most dental work is not maintenance. Ever go to the dentist in the Philippines? They have a much more open and free market for dental services. They have much better technology and cheap prices than the US. Yes the Philippines is more advanced than the US here. The less people between my and my health care provider the less I'll be scammed. Take a hold of your own pricing structures and seek out free market providers.
