You could see it from a point of view, if we waste less time with certain tasks, we could put more efforts into other things that will help even more people.
I completely agree with you on the point of the scooters where people are using their bodies to do tasks which was meant to, for example walking, as per your example.
Nevertheless, we can take the car example now, and let's say a rare disease breaks through in a remote area and the medicine is available but we have to walk there; it could take days and by the time the medicine reaches the people in the small village, a vast majority may have passed away or the disease is already at the stage the medicine is no longer effective.
There are still many parts of the world where medicine is hard to get to and the example above still applies. Things like IOT and Drones are possibly one of the more recent technology advancements which is going to help to address this problem.
