I used to go alone. Pack the bag, put my boots on and go into the wilderness. It's a strange feeling, the deeper you go into the wild, the more you leave the social roles you play behind you. You are no longer your profession, you are no longer brother, son, lover, neighbor,... the new you emerges. The most basic you.

There're you and there's the mountain.

Although, it's really physically demanding to carry the gear and supplies for the 3+ days journey, at the end of it I've always been refreshed, centered and full of energy. I wouldn't recommend going alone without prior experience, especially not in the areas not covered by the mobile networks. There are real dangers in the mountains.
