RE: 4 Exercise Can You Try At Home

in #health8 years ago

Hello people and please do not try these exercises at home.

Number one is Yoga (or Pilates) these are ultra intense exercises that stress your bodies in many severe and dangerous ways.

Now before I start a flame war or troll war let me explain, I love Yoga and Pilates and have many books on the subject. However 90% of people over the age of 25 are to sedentary and unhealthy to safely use these exercises.

People have spent years abusing and neglecting their body's. In the new age of instant gratification you cannot safely tell people to go slowly and cautiously and listen to their body's. People are used to credit cards, they want results immediately, try yoga and Pilates without proper supervision and expert beginners instruction, then you will join the growing yoga Pilates waiting lines at your local emergency room.

Thats official by the way, trying to get fit and healthy with yoga or Pilates will make your Doctor and Chiropractor very happy ! ! !

Stair climbing is a great workout and guaranteed to burn out your knees at an earlier lifestyle age than otherwise. It is like people who jog on the beach the slopping sand causes unnatural misalignments in the joints. So while stair climbing is a great cardio burner it mainly works your most functional part of your body. Your legs are the largest most powerful muscles in your body, plus everyone must walk so doing extra workouts for your legs is just wasted time.

In my Blog post; which is no where as well written as this article I give a thumbnail sketch of a 300 second 5 or 6 minute workout routine. I carefully selected the five best exercises to get the fastest safest. The humble pushup is number three in that list, there is no more ultra convenient exercise. So while the push up ranks number three it is number one that does not require an in-doorway pull-up bar piece of equipment.

Situps are purely useless and do absolutely nothing of any use. Sit-ups are waste wasted time; they work your hip flexors and will never ever ever take an inch off your waistline. In fact the only thing you can do more useless to your health and fitness than situps is to sit on the lounge sofa with chips or cake.

Jump rope is just bad, it is hard on all your joints; great if your that young you are naturally healthy and to inexperienced in life to realise you are not actually immune to bad things happening to you. Repeated jumping is one of the surest ways to develop joint problems. another reason with these types of cardio is they tend to burn calories; they tend to burn fat, this is good; right ? Jump rope, ellipticals, treadmills stair climbers all also tend to burn fat (good) and muscle (real bad).

As you use these machines they burn things indiscriminately depending upon your age, gender, race and genetics. These factors are why you cannot spot reduce your hips or belly fat, they also dictate how and where you will alter your body measurements. Naturally as we age we slowly lose muscle mass, since this loss is normal why would you choose exercises to increase that rate of muscle loss . . .

If you find some solid advice or try my 300 second exercise program slowly over time you might get fit and strong enough to give Yoga or Pilates a go, in the meantime try and avoid silly traditional exercises and research something that might help your health and lifestyle : )

/ hugz ; )

This is just a contrary piece to disagree with these exercises especially for a person over the age of 30. However they are traditionally accepted exercises and have all been proven both useful or ineffective, this depends upon circumstance. Some can simply be dangerous without proper care and instruction. Today with the yoga craze any instructor you find is most likely qualified by paying for their course and probably has very limited experience in instructing. Yes you could find a highly skilled and qualified instructor but you will wait weeks for an appointment, most likely not be able to afford them and they probably no longer instruct beginners : )
