Raw milk contain lots of bacteria that are not good for human health and they should be killed before we drink milk. Pasteurization of milk is the process which makes the raw milk drinkable.

There are different ways to pasteurize milk some of them are efficient which can make milk almost free from bacteria. To Pasteurize milk you need a pot or a double boiler and regular milk filter. Temperature is very important so for exact measurement of temperature you need a thermometer and then to cool down milk quickly you need some ice.

To start the process you need to filter the milk with the help of regular milk filter so that solid particle does not remain in the milk. After that take water in a larger pot and boil it and put the container of the milk in larger pot. Put thermometer in it so that you can measure the temperature. Heat milk for 165 degrees until 15 seconds or 164 degrees for 15 seconds.

I thought as long as it boils it OK. I guess I'll have to watch the temperature.

This is a common method to boil milk for pasteurizing but the method described in the above post is more beneficial in terms of killing harmful bacteria.

Yes, its dangerous. Cholera (the most common disease you can get by drinking fresh milk) can be spread by drinking a contaminated milk, so it's VERY important to boil fresh milk before drinking.

And for those who doesn't know, yes, cholera is deadly without a good treatment

Hi, isn't it really sad to cook the fresh milk to be able to drink it? I am from Austria and our cows became treated very good, and if the cows have a healthy life, the milk will be also drinkable without pasteurization.

@bartender96 Are sure about this? Although I have heard of some tribe take fresh raw milk but i have always read and believed it is very unhealthy. That a cow is very healthy doesn't really mean the milk will be pure and in perfect health, isn't it?

So i think pasteurization is non-negotiable.

very interesting your writing, I like because it is about our own health before consuming milk
