RE: New Migraine Meds, Day 2

in #health7 years ago

There is a way to stop migraines if they are caused by allergy to food. You only consume the 'safe' foods i.e. pears, lamb if a meat eater, parsnips and distilled water for 5 days. During the first 2 days you will have a severe migraine from withdrawal of your allergy trigger. Then you introduce new foods one a day remembering to also introduce ingredients separately. When the trigger is introduced you will know it is the culprit as you will suffer a migraine. I know this method works. We even found a friend's trigger to be yeast. It is an ingredient in many things so very hard to find. Once fermented it is no longer a trigger for him so he can still enjoy lager.
I am sorry to write such a long comment but trying to help.

Your comment isn't long, but it is pretty annoying because it assumes that I don't already know this.

I've been suffering from severe and chronic migraines since I was three years old. I have been suffering from severe and chronic migraines for twenty-five years.

I'm allergic to pretty much every food in some way or another. Most of my food allergies aren't migraines triggers. Some are. I'm also extremely allergic to my environment. Outside of living in a medically sterile environment (of which, I would still have environmental allergies), there's not much I can do about alleviating my migraines by changing my environment. I've tried many times. It's not a realistic option for me. I can change some small things, but that's about it.

There are times that I choose to eat something that I know is a migraine trigger simply because if I didn't, my existence would be even more miserable. Migraines triggered by food are almost always significantly easier to get rid of than the migraines I usually get.

I do appreciate your concern, but I'm not gonna lie and pretend it didn't annoy me a little. I know that wasn't your intention and not really your fault. Most people probably don't put nearly as much time and energy into migraines and fighting them as I have, or as you and your friend have. So it's understandable. It can just be frustrating for me because I have put in all that time and effort and most suggestions that people give me are things that I've tried over and over again and have failed and/or even made things significantly worse.

So far, my new neurologist seems to be my best hope.

Okay, I'll shut up then. Message understood!

That's actually not the message I was trying to convey? But I had a feeling that's how it was gonna come across.

I'm one of those people that believes in being upfront and honest about something even if it isn't necessarily the nicest thing.

What I failed horribly at doing was trying to say that while I did find it a bit annoying because it felt like you were assuming that I haven't gone to great lengths to fight these migraines, that I still did appreciate the fact that you cared to try to help.

I am very sorry that I failed at making that clear earlier.

No need to apologize. I have a painful long term health problem myself so tend to muscle in if I think I have some information that might help someone else. The thing I'm best at is annoying people, ha ha, as you found out. I hope you find some effective meds soon.

Yeah, I have quite a few long term health issues, and I can be guilty of it sometimes myself.

So far I'm very impressed with this preventative medication. It's only been a few days, but I'm impressed.

I'll be giving an update about Days 3 and 4 here in a couple hours.

By the way, you're welcome to muscle in in the future. Just please do keep in mind that I do try a lot of things and do a lot of research. With keeping those things in mind about each other, I think this could be a beautiful, possibly even helpful, relationship. :D

Sounds good to me :)
