High sugar diet and Mental health
A recent report published in Science Report demonstrated that men are more likely to develop mental health disorders like anxiety or depression in the long run if they consume more sugary foods. But that is not true with women. Women taking more sugary foods are not prone to develop mental problems.
The study was conducted over 5000 men and 2000 women over a period of 22 years. It was found that men who used to consume more than 70 g of sugar daily has 23% more chance to develop anxiety or depression after 5 years than who consume 39.5 g of sugar. Women has no variation among high and low sugar in takers.
However, the men with mental problem have no tendency to consume more sugary foods. Consuming high sugar diet is usually associated with diabetes and cardiac problems. The findings fell light on new areas.
