If you have a family history, you should be even more careful. Don't forget to visit your gynecologist at least once a year.
We have all identified the pink bow with the fight against breast cancer, which is a disease that has become a threat to millions of women. Relatives, acquaintances, celebrities and even ourselves are exposed to develop this type of cancer. October is the month in which she is reminded of the importance of prevention, but it should not be the only time we do breast self-examination. It is said that one in eight women is at risk. However, the probabilities depend on each person, habits, family and characteristic traits. Don't stop reading, it can save your life.
What is it?
Cancer results from mutations or abnormal changes in genes that regulate cell growth and keep cells healthy. Breast cancer is a disease in which cancer cells develop in the tissues of this part of the body. The term refers to a malignant tumor that is born from breast cells. In most cases, it originates in the cells of the lobules, milk-producing glands, or in the ducts, the pathways that carry milk to the nipple. Breast cancer rarely originates in the stromal tissues, which include the fatty and fibrous clusters.
Important Note: Almost 90% has its origin in genetic anomalies.

Who's to blame?
This type of cancer is always caused by a genetic abnormality. However, only five to 10% of cases are due to an abnormality inherited from either parent. Almost 90% is caused by genetic irregularities related to the aging process and the natural wear and tear of human beings. Even if a person keeps his or her body as healthy as possible, the development of breast cancer is not to blame. Having feelings of guilt or believing that the disease appeared because of something bad you did is a mistake. The important thing is to accept it and go to a specialist for treatment.
Asymptomatic
One of the most dangerous and alarming features of this disease is that it may not cause any symptoms in its early stages. The lump may be so small in some cases that it is impossible to feel it or cause unusual changes that you can detect yourself. An abnormal area often appears on the mammogram. In some cases, the first sign is a recent lump or mass in the mother that you or your doctor can feel.
Early Diagnosis
Because of its often asymptomatic nature, the most effective prevention of breast cancer is early detection. For this reason, regular breast self-examination is essential. From the age of 50 (or earlier if there is a predisposition), the so-called mammography should be carried out periodically. This test detects small tumors that may not be noticeable on self-examination. If a suspicious nodule appears, a biopsy should be performed, which consists of taking a small piece of the foreign body and analyzing it under a microscope.
I have a lump, what do I do?
If you discover a lump, or feel something different, it's a reason to worry and you should go to the doctor as soon as possible. But without mortifying yourself. Sometimes these can be caused by menstrual changes, but if there's a discharge or skin changes like wrinkles, you shouldn't delay seeing a specialist. It's natural to be afraid of discovering something strange, but don't get depressed or jump to conclusions. Most coughs are benign and, if they are malignant, you still have hope if they are diagnosed early.
Treatment
Once the presence of malignant cells has been confirmed, treatment must be started to attack them. They are usually used:
Important Note: From the age of 50, mammography should be performed periodically.

Self-examination
The best time to do the self-exam is one week after the menstrual cycle.
Stand in front of a mirror and check each breast for any abnormalities. Check for wrinkles or scaling. Look for any discharge from the nipples.
Pay close attention and join your hands behind your head and push them forward.
Then press your hands firmly on your hips and bend over as you pull your shoulders and elbows forward. Press on each nipple to determine if there is discharge.
If you do it lying down it is even better because the breast tissue spreads evenly over the chest. Lie on your back, put an arm on your head and a pillow under your shoulder.
