in #health8 years ago

Postpartum depression is treated with foods high in vitamin B6, such as blackstrap molasses, brewer's yeast, wheat germ, soybeans, brown rice, veal, lamb, salmon, tomatoes and bananas.

Also take some magnesium and 50 mg every day of vitamin B6.

Some homeopathic remedies may also help:

  • mild depression, unpredictable moods and weepiness can be treated with pulsatilla
  • use ignatia if you are weepy and sighing
  • try natrum mur if you want to be alone and feel like crying all the time.

Follow the instructions on the label and be in contact with your doctor.  Postpartum depression can become very serious.

Some other mild antidepressants are evena and oatstraw.

Licorice and Siberian ginseng target the adrenal glands which are stressed during pregnancy. either drink several cups of tea, or take two or three teaspoons of a tincture of only one daily.  Both are safe when breast feeding.

Remember to eat nutritionally as well.  Most breast feeding mothers have good appetites.

A homeopathic dose of arnica can help alleviate soreness and some of the pain after delivery.  Breast feeding moms have to be careful, but this is better than medicating. Arnica oil is a great massage oil,  lavender is wonderfully healing and soothing.
