Doesn't sound like the evidence was very strong, but their reported track records in prevailing in suits ins't that strong and it is surprising they let the cases go to trial.
If they could show in a lab that talcum powder alters the genes of ovarian cells to become cancerous, I think it would be pretty solid over just a reported association. And if an association is all the plaintiff has, one could expect an appeal.
