McDonald's fries are one of the most-consumed junk food on this popular "fast food" network. The American journalist Michael Pollan has conducted a journalistic investigation which reveals the details of the fries production process at McDonald's. His results are terrifying.
Michael Pollan - a journalist and professor at the Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism for years trying to reveal the truth about what poisoners of fast food and processed food poison us.
Fast food companies constantly reduce production costs, thereby increasing the efficiency of their products and poisoning the consumer at the same time.
About how they do it, prof. Pollan found out while visiting one of the production halls at McDonald's.
A shocking investigation
What the journalist noticed at the very beginning is the fact that in McDonald's, potatoes used for spraying French fries are sprayed with a toxic pesticide.
This fact is so frightening that this pesticide is so harmful that products sprayed with it can not be consumed for 6 weeks after spraying.
McDonald's uses a special variety of Russet Burbank potatoes for the production of its famous, long fries.
It is an American variety of potatoes with a specially elongated shape (guaranteeing the proper length of French fries), which is extremely difficult to grow.
This species is very susceptible to various types of plague, including necrosis, manifested by black spots on the surface of the potato.
The only way to avoid contagion is to use highly toxic pesticide methamidophos (Monitor, Tameron preparations) already in the early stages of plant growth.
This pesticide is so toxic that farmers do not enter their fields for 5 days from spraying plants, not to risk their own health - says Pollan and adds - Harvested potatoes are placed in large tents about the size of a football field, where the air parameters are artificially controlled, because they are not suitable for eating right away.
For the next six weeks, they must be stored in such and not other conditions, because they are full of poisonous substances, and their consumption during this period is extremely dangerous to health.
McDonald's fries is a poison
And it is from such potatoes packed with toxic pesticides that McDonald's fries are produced.
The case is so serious that the pesticide used - methamidophos is associated with many side effects in people who had direct contact with him during the spraying and those who consumed the previously sprayed products.
The most common symptoms are: nosebleeds, lung irritation, runny nose, breathing problems, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, arrhythmia, weakness and limb numbness, coma and even death.
The side effects are serious, so it's better to avoid eating this type of fast food, especially since no "cookery" served quickly can replace a home-made dinner.
Remember that such fast food corporations use enormous amounts of salt, fat and sugar to prepare their meals - certainly much more than we would have used for cooking ourselves.
They do it because these three ingredients are extremely addictive and thus they know that the customers will not be able to get around without them because of the taste. By using toxic pesticides, McDonald's fries are produced.
