It being said what you do not know is bigger than you. Cholera is an infectious disease causing severe diarrhea and dehydration, usually spread in contaminated food and water. But I never knew it’s this deadly, in fact all my thought about cholera is children contacting disease because is very rare on adult in where I came from. so it came to me with shocked when I received the news that a colleague collapsed and was rush to the hospital at the early hours of today and was rushed to the hospital, which he was admitted and was ministered fifty (50) water drip solution.
He was lucky that he was rush to the hospital in time, if not so only God knows what would have been of him for he was completely drained said the doctor on our arrival.
He added that more than 500 cases of cholera was reported last year in Nigeria out of which 80% of those cases leads to death. And He ended by advising on proper food conservation, washing of hands properly and so on.

Symptom of Cholera.

And he left. coming to my thinking i said to my self, what if it was you on that bed cholera put you down unaware? so i decided to shake the tree of cholera research to see what falls

Cholera has few symptom that enable one identify it when being infected. Most people undergoes blind treatment without proper diagnosis, but with this signs and symptoms one should be able to identify cholera before it get out of control.
Below are the symptoms:

  1. low blood pressure
  2. Thirst
  3. Raped heart rate
  4. Loss of skin elasticity
If not treated, dehydration can even lead to sudden deaths. Till this very hour my colleague is still unconscious. Please let do ourselves some good by keeping our food, water and environment clean for prevention they say is better than cure.
