😎 The Wisdom in Honey: How Authentic is the Bible? 😁

in #health β€’ 7 years ago (edited)

Nature provides us healthy options and the Bible attests to it. Let's have a look at honey for instance.

Introduction

Honey comes from beehives. It's being processed by honeybees. The sweet nectar they collect becomes honey inside their beehives.

To make a pound of honey, honeybees need to gather nectar from almost two million flowers! They must be very hard-working! They're just like ants. After gathering lots of nectar, they allow it to thicken into honey. This natural process doesn't allow microbes to thrive in the honey. Nectar is made of sugar and water but it becomes thick due to the enzymes bees add into the solution.

They almost completely rid honey of moisture and it becomes bacteria-free but at this stage, honey isn't safe yet for babies. Why? Because there's a chance of formation of botulinum spores. These are dormant bacteria that only need a little water to become active and multiply again. Babies' immune systems just can't handle them yet. That's why breastmilk is still the best for babies.

The Bible advises us to eat honey in moderation.

With that said, let's learn about the health benefits of honey.

Honey offers a wide range of health benefits for those who consume it especially in its raw form. Unfortunately most honey eaten today is processed honey which is been filtered and heated after being collected. Raw honey is different from this processed kind. It is unfiltered, unpasteurized and pure. In this form, it maintains its incredibly healthy nutritional profile. In addition to offering many healthy nutrients it also promotes many health benefits while helping improve our overall health.
When raw honey is consumed consistently, its wonderful antioxidants can help to boost your immune system and reduce free radicals in the body which can help prevent a number of unwanted diseases. Raw honey contains powerful antioxidants known as polyphenols which have been shown to reduce the chances of disease such as heart disease. In addition to this, regular consumption of raw honey may also help to reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

Raw honey and cinnamon is especially helpful for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. It can also prevent hypoglycemia. According to studies, it can cause a lower elevation of plasma glucose levels in diabetics compared to sucrose and dextrose. It is also a great source of natural energy as raw honey contains a majority of national sugars and many different vitamins and minerals. It’s an easily absorbed energy supply in the form of liver glycogen which is why many people consume honey before their workouts or competitions or in the mornings. Raw honey has also been shown in studies to help with weight loss. When compared to sugar, raw honey may actually work to lower serum triglycerides in the body. Other studies have shown consistent conception of raw honey can help to suppress appetite and activate our hormones.

Just like any other healthy food, just make sure you are not over-eating raw honey and you’re managing your intake. Raw honey can also help to improve sleep. More importantly it can increase restorative sleep so we wake up feeling rejuvenated and alert. If you consume raw honey before going to bed, it can work to restock the liver’s glycogen supply. Raw honey also works to release melatonin in the brain. It stimulates the release of tryptophan which converts into serotonin, leading to the release of melatonin. Melatonin is great for promoting restorative sleep since it boosts immunity and also helps to rebuild tissue while we rest.
It can also help with treating a cough and is often considered a natural cure for both cough and cold. Persistent cough may be able to be remedied by consuming just a couple of teaspoons of honey as some studies have indicated. This is said to be due to the thick consistency and sweetness of honey which work to coat the throat and stimulate nerve endings which protect the throat from persistent cough. Lastly raw honey can help to improve the quality of your skin and provide a clearer complexion. This can occur when raw honey is consumed but is even more beneficial when it is applied topically. To enjoy these benefits as much as possible, make sure you are using pure, organic raw honey for best results.

Really informative post here
Another practical use of honey is it's application to open wounds/ulcers. Several studies have shown that it aids wound healing.

ORGANIC RAW HONEY, sorry to yell, but that point cant be emphasized enough......:)
good post!
I have spring time allergies and local organic raw honey is the best remedy i have found. Pharmaceutical medicine has irritating side affects and raw honey is even more effective. For allergies, the more local the honey is, the better. Local pollen causes allergy=local honey relieves allergy. But even if its not local, organic raw honey still has great benefits.

if people would just read the bible they could find solutions to all their health problems.

Honey has so many benefits as you mentioned! and we know excess of anything is bad same applies here.
It's good to have honey with turmeric(haldi) which is an antiseptic.

Thank you for sharing and for reading my blog.

Honey is very beneficial to the heart and lungs... i used a combination of honey, cabbage and garlic when i used to be asthmatic and it worked! Today i no longer use inhaler!

Wow that's good to know. Thank you for sharing this.

I have asthma too. How did you combine honey, cabbage and garlic and how did you intake it?

Psalm 1 :
The righteous and the sinners
Blessed is the man who did not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers.

But in Yhave's law is his delight, and in his law he meditates day and night.

It will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which gives its fruit in its time, and its leaf does not fall, and everything it does will prosper.

Amen

@hiroyamagishi I just watched one of your tutorials in youtube. I am a new steemian, keep up the good work, I learned from your videos.

This article is a good read. More power! Yeah I like honey it is delicious and healthy at the same time.

Honey is good for health

There are so many great benefits to honey, but quality is the key. Definitely do your research and pay the extra money for organic, local, quality honey, as mentioned by others in this thread.

As honey bees die off, production is still rising of honey. The only way that makes sense is the fact that honey is cut with other products/syrups, etc. There is a great episode of Rotten on Netflix that sheds a lot of light on this topic! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7830582/

I am a natural beekeeper in the UK.
I love my bees and the honey they produce.
I keep my bees free of any chemical treatments, and I also refuse to feed my bees processed sugar as is so common here. Instead, I make sure I leave enough honey in the hive for the winter, and I keep a jar for each hive as an emergency feed in case they run low.
The excess honey is extracted by hand in the summer and bottled. No heating or processing.
It makes the most beautiful honey, full of all the health benefits you describe.
So lovely to read your post! xx

thanks a lot hiro yamagishi for sharing your knowledge in steemit! i am a novice for steemit.

Hey cool post. Never thought about how much the Bible says about honey. Good to know it also helps with sleeping. I'll definitely try it tonight!

@hiroyamagishi Hey there! I'm new here. This post caught my eye because my uncle makes his own honey...and I have actually thought about this same thing before! About the Bible and what it says about food, and why. It's so fascinating. I've used raw local honey to heal allergies! Powerful stuff!

I like how Solomon compared eating too much honey to someone seeking their own glory. It must have been observed in their time that eating too much had negative effects. BTW, if a pound of honey took 2 million flower's worth of nectar then one teaspoon of honey takes about 30,000 flowers. I'll propose a toast to those busy little guys next time I take a spoonful :)

Here in Surigao, we use it as an alternative for vitamins and sugar. :) Theres a lot of it here in province
