One of our requirements in order for us to graduate is to have this immersion and action plan. It is a long process in order to come up with the decision in choosing this community problem. In our project, we have to choose a community that has a problem and us, the students will have to figure out the causes and the effects of it and how are we gonna raise awareness to the residents living in an unsafe place. And also, it is a great challenge for us to face the leaders in those places and address the issue we observed in that certain place.

A healthy environment is imperative if one wants to live healthy. If the environment is dirty, it affects the health of the people living around drastically. A clean environment is important for everyone’s body, mind as well as a spirit just like water, oxygen, and food are needed.
Sanitation and cleanliness plays a vital role in in which our way of life is at stake. The avoidance of pollution and protection of our own environment starts with our community’s individuals. Learn the 3R’S and follow it accordingly. In which the
goal is to prevent waste and conserve natural resources. In addition to this, we must lessen our consumption. Try not to waste paper, food, nor electricity. Segregate the garbage and start recycling. Thus, avoid diseases, lessen consumption as well as pollution.

Furthermore, there are several effects in inhabiting near a dump site. According to a research published in the International Journal of Epidemiology in 2016, respiratory symptoms were detected among residents living close to
waste sites. These were linked to inhalation exposure to endotoxin, microorganisms, and aerosols from waste collection and land filling, which is terrifyingly consistent with other studies. Hence proves overflowing garbage is air pollution that causes various respiratory diseases into
humans.
World Health Organization (2015) concluded that inadequately disposed of untreated waste may cause serious health problems for populations surrounding the area of disposal. Leaks from the waste may contaminate soils and water streams.
Affecting humans, all ecosystems in the water, including fish and other animals that drink from the polluted water.

Poor waste control not just affects the environment but also in economy, specifically to
the municipal wellbeing. Everyone wants to visit and live places that are clean, fresh and healthy. Overflowing garbage and a smelly city does not attract people nor tourists and investors, it is clearly an eyesore and a public nuisance. Unluckily the city could keep losing money and miss out on revenue from proper waste control and recycling. It also comes with missing out job opportunities from it.

Thanks for reading. I hope we will help in maintaining pur environment clean and safe. Health is wealth people!

Sincerely,
@joelisking
