Curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties, as powerful as that of the OTC drug, ibuprofen. However, Curcumin is totally natural and has no toxic effects on the body. Curcumin’s antioxidant properties have demonstrated the ability to protect healthy cells from carcinogenic agents. It aids the human body in destroying mutated cancer cells. Turmeric also helps to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease.

Known as Haldi in India, turmeric is used in cooking, as medicine and also as part of face masks due to its skin brightening properties. It has actually been used medicinally for over 4,500 years. Pots discovered near New Delhi uncovered residue from turmeric, ginger and garlic that dates back as early as 2500 BCE. Tumeric found its way into Ayurveda in around 500 BCE. (Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of natural healing that is still practiced today.) The known health benefits of Tumeric are as follows -

Fight inflammation with anti-inflammatory compounds
Combat free radicals
Protect against heart disease in various ways
Help rheumatoid arthritis
