How to get your mercury fillings safely removed, to ensure no further damage to your health.

in #health7 years ago (edited)

While I have discussed so much already on Steemit about how dangerous mercury ("silver amalgam") fillings are, it's important for people receiving the information not to freak out & rush out straight away and get them removed by an ordinary dentist. Removing mercury fillings is not a regular trip to the dentist, it involves a few safe protocols that need to be followed. When getting mercury fillings, you're exposed to larger amounts of mercury. When mercury fillings are in your mouth, they are a constant source of mercury vapor. When they are removed, you are again exposed to mercury, a neurotoxic heavy metal. So, here are some things you can do to keep yourself (And your dentist) safe during removal.

Ensure you & your dentist are on the same page & agree with each other about the dangers of mercury fillings! Do they follow..

The Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique (SMART)

(They should)

Your removal scenario should look a little like this...

Mercury free dentistry

You can see the dentists are also protected, and there in a huge vacuum protruding from your face (this is good) Here are some other things to ensure things go smooth when going through removal.

Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal taken right before removal can reduce absorption of poison by 60%. Your dentist can also rub activated charcoal around in your mouth to soak up any poison.

Bite wing X-rays

Bite wing xrays, these are best done after mercury filling removal, and before placement of new filling. This is to ensure no "specks" of mercury are anywhere in your mouth before new fillings are set.

A rubber dam & oxygen mask

A rubber dam is a must. This will protect you from swallowing any mercury, and isolate the rest of your mouth from mercury. As you can see there is an oxygen mask, so you can breathe uncontaminated air through removal.

Adrenaline free injection

Adrenaline injections are usually fine, for people that aren't toxic. When you have mercury in your body, your adrenals are often a little shot. The last thing you need is more adrenaline. Adrenaline free injections work just as well as ones with adrenaline. You can also take vitamin C after removal (Not before) to dissipate the effects of the anaesthetic, and to assist your body in healing.

Each case is unique, mercury fillings affect people differently. From mild issues to more extreme ones. It's important to recognize what's going on with your body & support it through the process of amalgam removal. If you are confused about what the correct thing to do is, you can join a group on facebook called

Andy Cutler Chelation: Safe Mercury and Heavy Metal Detox

The 30,000 strong group houses an assortment of health scenarios they can help with. Given the amount of dangerous protocols out there for heavy metal removal, that group is the best bet in steering away from hurting yourself.

Removing mercury fillings is one of the greatest things you can do for your health. Ideally ceramic will be used in place of the mercury fillings, however this is an expensive option, so going with the white composite, is far better than mercury. I wish all Steemians great health & magic!

For several years now, the World Health Organization has requested the elimination of dental amalgams due to the high toxicity of mercury (damage to the lungs, kidneys, nervous system, digestive system and immune system). Great post !!!

Great post! I am glad you are talking about this issue because there are still so many people who don’t know they have toxic substances in their mouth that they are using to chew all of their food.

I actually went to a naturopath dentist last year to have mine removed. It was a crazy experience to see everyone in hazmat suits... makes you realize how dangerous this stuff really is. The process was exactly how you described, right down to the activated charcoal.

Getting this removal done is really worth it and I would encourage everyone with mercury fillings to do so if they can. You never know how having those things in your mouth is impacting your overall health.

@kaykunoichi have you gotten this done as well? I feel like it’s rare to meet someone who has!

YES! i was one of those people who didn't know amalgam fillings were made from mercury :O I had mine for 17 years and had them out a few weeks ago because of a post I saw on STEEMIT :D And now I will not stop going on about it, I am even working to get them banned in my country (New Zealand) because they are still putting them in kids mouths. I was bed ridden for 6 months pretty much, they thought I had either MS or a tumor because my symptoms were so crazy. My severe fatigue has died down a lot, but i'm starting chelation therapy soon as my hair tests also revealed lead & aluminum. So crazy that metals are so overlooked as a health problem. How are you feeling since your removal? Yeah your right the process of getting them removed is so important because of how toxic they are, I know a few people who have gotten super sick from dentists thinking they can pull them out like regular fillings. Glad you're mercury free :)

Wow, your story gave me chills. I’m so glad that you were able to figure out what was happening and that you are recovering! What a terrible ordeal you went through.I can definitely see why you’d be trying to spread this information. Keep up the great work!

I felt pretty healthy before, and so I didn’t have a dramatic shift, but I’m so glad I got it done.

Yeah even just the peace of mind of not having them is great! xx

This is so important. All other issues from infections to mental health are affected with mercury toxicity. Vital to health is proper removal. Kudos to you for sharing this information. It is paramount to getting well. Peace.

It is rampant, and sadly most doctors don't recognize not only mercury but all heavy metal toxicity as the cause of many illnesses. If they did, the dental associations would be in a lot of doo doo. Peace to you!

Great to see the process. I've got one and am thinking of having it taken out soon, so now I know what to look for.

That's good, what makes you want to get it removed? I only had one and it caused mercury poisoning in me. The removal was two weeks ago & I see a huge difference, mainly in fatigue. Still a lot of healing to go, but getting them out is the best step!

I am curious to see whether it will resolve any cloudy headedness that I sometimes feel. I'm pretty strong and high vitality most of the time, but do wonder if this is affecting me in some way.

Useful post. Thank you. I've read before about one woman who suffered from clinical depression that was resistant to all medical and drug interventions.... until she removed her mercury fillings.

Exactly :) It contributes to so many mental disorders. We're putting this is kids mouths then wondering why we have high suicide rates.

It is really a very useful information, I resteemed!

Thank you :)

Thank for sharing this !!! We need more people aware of that !

Wonderful and useful information but
Why is Mercury there?

That's a great question, I wish I knew why they use mercury as fillings to put in our mouths.

It makes the silver melt at a low enough temperature to be able to use in people's mouths, I think. Wish I could get it out, but they charge so much I am probably taking my toxins to my grave with me.

How many do you have? It's possible to get them out one at a time, if possible for you. Do you experience any health issues? Some people are lucky & seem to be okay. They say the mercury is safe once mixed with other metals but that's not true sadly.

I have 4 left I think. They actually do not bother me, but I had the last couple fillings done with the resin, had 3 of them. THAT stuff hurt for years, finally cracked my teeth in half one by one, so I am half afraid to take the mercury out. I don't want any of the options. I am sensitive to metals so I do NOT want those titanium implants stuck in my jawbone! And on top of it all the closest dentist that does proper removal (last time I checked) was 600 miles away. I am probably just going to keep my little toxic waste site, at least until I become a steemit millionaire... lol!

hahaha that is totally something that can wait until you're a Steemillionaire!!! :D

Now I'm looking at Interet to find out. Oh, thank you.@kaykunoichi

That is really useful post for every body. If Mercury is dangerous and lots of precautions are needed at the time of it's removal, why dentist still do filling with it?

Great question, I wish I knew why. Many have stopped doing it. Many still do it because it's the cheapest option at the biggest price. There would be far less illness & disease without them.

Thanks for the reminder, I wish more people are aware of the evil doings of the elite.

I never know this was possible... Thumb up to science and nice discovery

Informative post.
