My Experience with Extended Fasting

in #health7 years ago

Hi All,

This is just going to be a quick update and I will post a more inclusive blog when I am finished, but I am sitting here around 88 hours into what will likely be a 96 hour fast. I wanted to write a little bit about how I am feeling and what I have experienced so far.

Currently, I feel slightly ADHD. I am not hungry at all, but my ability to focus seems to be diminished. That being said, if I take sodium or potassium my focus comes back. I have not felt any hunger since about hour 42. The hardest hurdle so far has been the 48 hour mark. Once I passed that I have not had any issues.

As far as weight loss goes, I weighed myself this morning and was down around 9 pounds. I do follow a keto diet so my body was already in ketosis when I started this fast.

So why am I doing this? I've been getting this question a lot on my instagram. My main purpose for doing this is to remind myself that you should "Eat to live, not live to eat" By that I mean, food should not be the primary focus of your life. I also wanted to prove to myself that when I'm hungry and craving food that it can be overcome with some mental strength. I have also done a ton of research on the physical benefits of extending fasting and was most intrigued by the metabolic increases that have been seen. It also appears to hit the reset button on you digestive system. This is mostly an experiment that I am carrying out on my body to see what happens.

I'll make sure to post an depth analysis with my of my findings when I finish this fast, but I wanted to get some words on paper while I am in the middle of it.

"Eat to live, not live to eat" perfect quote , Keto needs more attention it works pretty well thanks again for the post and thank you for all your support on my channel too!!

It's really funny that you are browsing through the food tab. Haha. Thank you for the upvote Keto. Good luck with your fast as well. Thank you for the investigation!

I browse everything LOL. I usually just sit on the "new" page and look at anything that catches my eye.

I recently did my very first fast, 72 hours. I was always 'against' fasting (excepting those for religious reasons...no judgement there), but i was blown away by how fasting made me feel.
I was so wrong, all this time! haha
