I've experienced having lived and worked in the U.S. and being a Canadian citizen I have experienced both universal healthcare and pay for insurance systems. I couldn't believe how much it cost on a regular basis in the U.S. Insurance premiums, co-pay, then a deductible on top of that. It's crazy. I know that I'm paying for healthcare through my tax dollars in Canada but personally I love the system. I personally have no problem with my tax dollars going towards things like healthcare and education. I know that not everyone agrees with it but personally, I see it as a good use of tax dollars. Insurance companies are bullshit. They just keep finding new ways of sucking peoples savings dry - as you pointed out.
