Wednesday evening is the best time to shop because stores aren't crowded and some stores start their weekly specials on Wednesday.

We always want to have somebody with us or accompanied by friends when going to the Supermarket, but when we are with someone else, more than 50% of the things we are buying is unplanned and out of the budget.

Fresh produce grown locally,,, this is the best value at the supermarkets. For example, strawberries are cheaper in June than in May. March look for lettuce, pineapple broccoli. Bananas and potatoes are a year-round bargain.

Supermarkets put the often most costly and most popular on the eye level. Look high and low on the shelves to find the real bargains Manufacturers often pays a fee for a better placement for optimal places.**
Chop your own
People complain about the price of vegetables and fresh fruits.The price of produce has risen because we are buying for convenience. For example instead of heads of lettuce, we buy bagged salads. Save by buying whole produce and prepare it yourself.

Prepare your shopping list.
People with prepared shopping list spend far less time in the store, and sure can buy what they need most and not just buying anything they can see around. If you are not good in making list, keep the list on your phone.
Are you a brand snob / Beware of buzzwords.
Do you buy products by its brand or it's price? Store brands usually cost 15% to 30% less than name brands but they are sometimes made by just same companies. 75% of these brands are viewed by shoppers as " Just as good".

Do you know why some products are marked as "healthy"? Shoppers tend to assume that healthier products cost a little expensive.that is why some products come with higher price tags. Be a smart buyer, look for comparable lower priced products and not be confused by those buzzwords.
