The Best Party Season Recovery Smoothie

This party season it is only right that you get out there an enjoy yourself!! BUT as we all know the nights out come with a price tag. So equip yourself to handle the morning after with our Party Season Recovery Smoothie!

This smoothie is specifically designed to aid the bounce back and to support your internal organs with processing the toxins and sugars enjoyed the night before. This is a smoothie that involves juicing so you will need a juicer and a smoothie maker or blender to make it.

For one portion you will need the following though we recommend making a large batch in a cold press juicer so you can keep this nutritional support flowing all day.

A handful of leafy greens we recommend kale or spinach
some uncooked beetroot
a cucumber (we say to juice this in the recipe but if you want a thicker, fuller end result then you can blend it instead)
cinnamon, we recommend ground cinnamon
a banana or two
a small chunk of ginger root
some cranberries
carrots
ice
lemon

Juice the greens, beetroot, cucumber, ginger and carrots, pour the juice into the blender jug, add the ice, bananas, quash the lemon juice in and add a generous sprinkling of cinnamon, blend up the mix and enjoy, if you have a cold press juicer flask up what you don’t drink immediately.

The leafy greens provide the most complex nutrition in the recipe, this will help process toxins and help your energy level. The beetroot has been associated with regulating blood pressure and aiding circulation, think of it as somewhat of an internal chimney sweep!

Cucumber is obviously high in water content and there fore very hydrating, but it is also calming to the digestion.

A sprinkling of cinnamon will help regulate blood sugar which can be upset by the high sugar content of alcoholic drinks.

Banana will make this smoothie taste great and feel filling while providing potassium and vitamin A which supports eye health.

Further eye and circulation protection is offered by the carrot and ginger juices. Ginger is an amazing foodstuff famous for it’s anti inflammatory properties, but it must be juiced as the stringy fibres don’t make it suitable for blending.

Cranberries will protect and support your urinary tract and add a nice sweet taste, while lemon juice adds a further pleasant taste that will balance out the kale. Lemon juice will also help preserve the stored juice if you flask some up to take with you.

Ice will chill the drink down and add further hydration, important for taste and to recover the lost liquid from any over indulgence! Enjoy the party season and maybe even make this before you head out so you can start the recover process before you even indulge! And when you do get in try and drink a litre of water before you go to sleep.
