In addition to drinking 8-10 glasses of water on a daily basis, you must eat 5 or six well-balanced meals with lots of folate-rich foods like fortified cereals, asparagus, lentils, wheat germ, oranges, and fruit crush. "Folic acid is crucial for the correct development of the baby's exoderm (it covers the spinal cord), and it is important for the creation of recent red blood cells," says Frances Largeman-Roth, R.D., author of Feed the Belly.
