A float tank is not a magic pill for meditation though. If you want to have the relaxation response on demand, meditation training is necessary. Of course the float tank can help get your mind and body used to that state, but being able to abide in relaxation in the face of stressors is a different skill.

I completely degree, it's good to detach and reset. However meditation certainly is more readily accessible and applicable in the everyday.
