Penicillin Doses
Penicillin dose for each patient is different. Dos are usually determined by a doctor based on several factors, namely:
- Medical disorders faced by the patient.
- Power of penicillin given.
- Number of schedules take penicillin daily.
- The interval between the required penicillin schedule.
While dosage of penicillin for a child is determined by consultation with the doctor, but usually adjusted to the child's weight.
Eating Penicillin Completely
Be sure to read the instructions on the drug pack and follow the advice of a doctor in taking penicillin. Do not increase or decrease dose without doctor's permission.
All types of penicillin, except amoxicillin, penicillin V, pivampicillin, and pivmecillinam, are usually consumed with one full glass (approximately 250 milliliters) of mineral when the stomach is empty. Avoid consumption of acid drinks, such as orange juice, an hour after taking penicillin. This type of drink can interfere with drug work in the body.
Try to maintain the amount of penicillin content in the blood and urine, by dividing the time range between the same medication schedule. For example, if prescribed to consume 4 times a day, then the best time span of taking the medicine is every 6 hours. Do not relieve or reduce the duration of treatment without doctor's permission.
For those who are taking medication, make sure to use a special spoon to determine the exact dosage. It is not recommended to eat milk with a standard amount of tablespoon.
Be sure to spend the medication according to the doctor's instructions, although you may feel better after consuming it for a few days. This is to prevent infections completely and to prevent the infection from recurring.
