Cancers that Develop in Children

in #health7 years ago

The types of cancers that occur most often in children are different from those seen in adults. The most common cancers of children are:

1.Leukemia
2.Brain and spinal cord tumors
3.Neuroblastoma
4.Lymphoma (including both Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin)
5.Rhabdomyosarcoma
6.Retinoblastoma
7.Bone cancer (including osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma)

1.Leukemia:
Childhood leukemia, the most common type of cancer in children and teens, is a cancer of the white blood cells. Abnormal white blood cells form in the bone marrow. They quickly travel through the bloodstream and crowd out healthy cells. This raises the body's chances of infection and other problems.
As tough as it is for a child to have cancer, it's good to know that most children and teens with childhood leukemia can be successfully treated.

2.Brain and spinal cord tumors:
A childhood brain or spinal cordThe tumors are formed by the abnormal growth of cells and may begin in different areas of the brain or spinal cord. tumor is a disease in which abnormal cells form in the tissues of the brain or spinal cord.
A childhood brain or spinal cord tumor is a disease in which abnormal cells form in the tissues of the brain or spinal cord. There are many types of childhood brain and spinal cord tumors. The tumors may be benign or malignant.

3.Neuroblastoma:
starts in the tissue of the adrenal glands, the triangular glands on top of the kidneys that make hormones that control heart rate, blood pressure, and other important functions. Like other cancers, neuroblastoma can spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body, such as the lymph nodes, skin, liver, and bones.

4.Lymphoma :
is a type of cancer that begins in lymphatic tissue. There are several different types of lymphomas. Some involve lymphoid cells and are grouped under the heading of Hodgkin lymphoma. All other forms of lymphoma fall into the non-Hodgkin lymphoma grouping.

5.Rhabdomyosarcoma:
is a type of sarcoma. Sarcoma is cancer of soft tissue (such as muscle), connective tissue (such as tendon or cartilage), or bone. Rhabdomyosarcoma usually begins in muscles that are attached to bones and that help the body move. Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common type of soft tissue sarcoma in children.

6.Retinoblastoma:
is a rare eye cancer affecting about 300 children each year. The disease occurs most often in children under the age of 4 years, with 80% of cases occurring under age 3 years and virtually none above age 6 years. Most children (99%) with this disease will be cured.

7.Bone cancer:
is a malignant (cancerous) tumor of the bone that destroys normal bone tissue . Not all bone tumors are malignant. In fact, benign (noncancerous) bone tumors are more common than malignant ones. Both malignant and benign bone tumors may grow and compress healthy bone tissue, but benign tumors do not spread, do not destroy bone tissue, and are rarely a threat to life.

My brother lost his right leg above knee when he was 10 years old
due to bone cancer.
I think that cancer in children are tied to vaccine with Thimerosal.
Thimerosal is an ethyl mercury-based preservative used in vials that
contain more than one dose of a vaccine.
