The invention of mobile phone has lead to increase number of deafness. Warnings are emphasised on the use of all mobile accessories, except on the use of earpieces. According to the 2012 release by WHO on the 2010 studies, it was found out that 360 million people had hearing loss which most was mainly adult. Hearing loss can be congenital or acquired, am going to focus my writing on acquired hearing loss.
Acquired hearing loss can be due to trauma, prolonged exposure to high frequency sounds, association with ageing. Which of these does your earpiece cause?

The healthy, young auditory system can detect tones in quiet with frequencies ranging from approximately 20 to 20000 Hz. Thus, the dynamic range of hearing covers approximately 130dB in the frequency region in which the human auditory system is most sensitive (between 500 and 4000 Hz).Sound at 85 dB or below is considered safe. Think about it!
If one is exposed to sounds greater than 90 dB for an average of eight hours per day without hearing protection, hearing loss will most likely result. As the volume increases, the safe time of exposure decreases.
Here are some loudness/time facts to consider (the unit of measurement is decibel):
At 95 dB, damage will occur after four hours of exposure per day.
At 100 dB, damage occurs after two hours of exposure per day.
At 105 dB, damage occurs after one hour of exposure per day.
At 110 dB, damage occurs after 30 minutes of exposure per day.
At 115 dB, damage occurs after 15 minutes of exposure per day.
At 120-plus dB, damage occurs almost immediately.

Some diseases associated with use of earpiece include;
Hearing loss; is mainly due to damage to the eardrum by loud sounds.
Ear infections; due to accumulation of cerumen on pores in the earpiece leading to subsequent invasions by bacteria.
Tinnitus; abnormal noise that appear to come from the ear or within the head.

How to care for your earAvoid loud music and if exposed to loud sounds such as in work place, use ear plugs.
Avoid sharing earpiece cause it could lead to spread of infections.
Avoid putting sharp objects into your ear.
Regular cleaning of ear devices.
Regular ear checks by a specialist.

AM I SAYING USING EARPIECE IS WRONG? NO!. What am saying is that unprolong use of earpiece can save us stress of the immediate and later complications of hearing loss.
PLEASE SHARE THIS AND SAVE ANOTHER EAR FROM GETTING DAMAGED.
